Poll question: POLL: After tonight, will Hillary or Obama be the democratic nominee? |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 11:10 PM by RoadRage
Alright.. checking DU's pulse. I know many are Obama supporters.. many are Clinton supporters. But, what is the over all thought.. do many still think Hillary or Obama will be the nominee this fall? Did tonight change the momentum to the point of no return for Hillary?
No Flaming - please keep this post nice and flame free on both sides.. nice chat only!

1. I'm hoping for Gore or JE to be brought in at the convention |
|
if not, I'll sit back and watch you all fight it out. BO/HC are just more of the 'same old' as far as I'm concerned.

5. I supported Clinton in my state's primary... |
|
after it was down to just her and Obama.
I have lots of problems with her, but I wasn't convinced by Obama that he was the best choice.
However, I honestly think that Clinton isn't going to win it. It will go to Obama. I have no problem with her hanging in until Mar.4, but if she fails to win either Texas or Ohio, which I think is likely, I think it would be best for the party for her to give it up at that point.
If she wins both OH and TX, though, that makes things MUCH harder for Obama. I'm just not confident that Clinton can win both.

7. I think she *could* win both... |
|
but I don't know if she can win by enough points to make it a win over all. We'll see how it goes in the next few weeks!

10. What would you say the odds of that would be? And who would the nominee be? |
|
Gore?
I'm just saying - this far in, with as many supporters as both Obama & Clinton have, what would a brokered convention with a different nominee do, aside from ailinate avid supporters from BOTH camps - leaving us with McCain for SURE?

but that's the only hope I have at this point of a nominee that will get my vote in November, so as long as there's hope, I'll hang in there.
I think much of the avidity comes from being "anti" the other candidate. Since there are equally compelling reasons to reject both of them, I understand the "ABC" or "ABO" mentality.
How many people, really, are excited that their choices were narrowed down to the two worst candidates on the ticket by a few early states? Who wants to pretend that there is anything at all "democratic" in the Democratic Party's primary process?
Why the fuck should I care about disgruntled voters who don't care if I get an equally weighted vote, with equal choices, in the primary to begin with? What makes those voters' choices more valid than others?
I've already been alienated, 3 months before my primary. How many Democrats care about that?
Gore is the obvious choice. If he'd take the job. There are others out there, as well. If the improbable happens, I'll be rooting for who ever it may be, as I am firmly "ABC&O."

Clinton and Obama are our choices, plus John McCain. Don't take your frustration of the primary process out on the candidates. They didn't engineer it. Talk to the party.

15. As if I haven't "talked to the party" AD NAUSEUM? |
|
Clinton and Obama are your choices, perhaps. Not mine. Neither, of course, is John McCain.
I'm sorry that Gore doesn't want the job. It doesn't have to be him, though; I'm still holding that thread of hope for someone different.

14. If that were to happen - McCain would win... |
|
And I understand your frustration about the Primary process.. i live in Nebraska - and this is the first time ever we've had a caucus. In the past our Primary has always been the 2nd week of May, and we're left to take whatever we're handed. It sucks.. it's stupid, I agree.
But, it is what it is for right now. I do respect your choice to not choose either candidate though, if Obama wasn't on the ticket - i'm not sure if i'd be thrilled to vote for anyone else either.

16. It's not about McCain, or about republican voters, for me. |
|
It's about integrity. My integrity as a citizen, the integrity of the party when it comes to democratic principles, social and economic justice, and government of, by, and for people rather than corporations.
I'm not going to campaign AGAINST the nominee; I just can't be FOR the nominee, either.
I won't pretend to support, or enthusiasm, that isn't real for me.
Instead, I'll put my time and efforts where it will do the most good: working to replace Gordon Smith in the Senate.
