Obama better win in Nov
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 11:29 PM by workinforalivin
And, make life better for avg. hard-working Americans, right quick.

1) Iraq war has to end at once and the billions being spent brought back home;
2) Bush/Cheney need to be held accountable for all the lies and crimes they perpetuated upon the American people and the world and the multiple criminal investigations against Bush and Cheney need to move forward, swiftly, so as to hold them accountable for their crimes - AG scandal, Plame, Medicare, Iraq War Intelligence, Iran, etc.;
3) All of the money stolen from hard working Americans via fraud, corruption, no-bid contracts, corporate welfare, etc. (i.e., the Medicare Bill, Iraq War Funding, Energy Policy, NCLB, etc.) needs to be returned to us and those who committed those crimes prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law;
4) All civil liberties need to be fully restored, FISA/NSA spying;
5) Torture (including water boarding) needs to be established as a crime against humanity and all off-shore detention centers abolished and off-shore interrogations ceased.

1. If Democrats stick together for a change
He will win easily. Repukes just scare our voters into either staying at home or voting for them.

and I was speaking to some folks in Florida and Michigan who also told me this!I also encounterd quite a few folks this weekend while I was canvassing ,who are Dems, who will not vote for him. I tried to persuade them to vote the downline. That is what I am going to do.I said if they just couldn't do it to forget about the presidential electiob and worry about the local folks.I honestly don't think I can vote for him. Seriously.And I have never not voted before. Ever.

it's about the Supreme Court. It''s about the environment. It's about getting the hell out of Iraq. It's about restoring Habeas Corpus. It's about the poor and disenfranchised that you purportedly care so much about. It's about restoring foreign relations. And it's sad that can't grasp something so basic.

And I do not trust him to protect those things in any way. Sorry. I do not TRUST him and I do not think that electing him would be a good thing.He isn't capable of it, IMHO, and he doesn't care.I can not even decide who is scarier of the two candidates.Each are sacry in their own right and neither will care about those issues.

You don't get to have it both ways. The candidate either supports us in exchange for our support, or we abstain as our conscience demands.

The democratic party doesn't begin and end with Hillary Clinton. She may lose the nomination, the party isn't dead with her. Its crazy to think people would rather see a repug in the white house over a democrat. This shouldn't be a her vs. him, its democrats vs. repugs. And alot of people have lost sight of that.

I was only voting for her because she was all that was left besides Obama. I have plenty of reasons to not vote for Obama, which I've outlined myriad times. I'm too old, gay, irrelevant, "uneducated" and all the other bullshit epithets you and your ilk have thrown at me over time. So lie in the bed you and your hero have made for yourselves.

How anyone can read what he has written and support him is unbelievable. And he is given a pass on "everything".He consorted with a figure under federal investigation for racketeering and went to him for real estate advice, while he was under federal investigation.Why does no one have a problem with that? He took over $100,00 in donations from this criminal., while he was under federal investigation, and had to be pressured to return the donations from this criminal, that he received knowing the guy was under investigation and it doesn't bother anyone? Then he "lied to ABC about it. Why does no one have a problem with that?

You have zero chance of anyone being prosecuted for war crimes/profiteering. There is also zero chance the war is going to end forthwith. That money you are talking about is gone for good but the budget will be balanced in a few years. Points four and five probably have the best chance of happening.

How is someone with no experience going to do that in the general? He will be the least experienced president in a century, and that one was a war hero and former governor of the largest state who wasn't elected but succeeded to the presidency.

40. I can't figure out which inexperienced president was "former governor of the largest state", "wasn't
elected, but succeeded to the presidency", and yet was a "WAR HERO". Shrub definitely wasn't a war hero, though he fits the other two categories. I might guess Theodore Roosevelt, since he was a war hero and governor of the most populous state at the time, but he at least won one presidential election, unlike Shrub. So I don't know, who are you referring to?

All of the things you listed are part of Obama's platform, including bringing our troops home by 2009.

The policy discussions of senior administration officials will take place in the open and even be posted to the internet.

Habeas corpus will be restored.

Torture will not be condoned.

He's promised this. And trust me, if he does not deliver, I will be the first one in line to vote him out of office.

63. It's going to be fun to see Obama being tested. Really tested.
He's got some really rough months ahead and I will enjoy seeing how he responds to some real pressure.

66. He won't . . . and here's why I'm reluctantly switching to Hillary
Obama is a wonderful speaker - he says all the right things, fills me with hope for the future. And that's exactly why we're going to lose if he is the nominee.

The Republicans don't do hope, joy, or togetherness. They do one thing - win elections. If you think they feminized and destroyed Kerry, wait till you see what they do to Obama. They'll be ruthless, they'll be nasty, they'll be mean, and they will win.

Hillary is already hated by them, and they've blown their wad on her already. She can and will fight to win. And in the end, she'll beat McCain, and she'll give them black eyes in the process.

Yes, I love Obama, but Hillary must be the nominee.

67. agreed! I am not ready for President McCain - and I'm not convinced
Obama is going to be able to deal with what will be coming his way.

My god - he gets so flustered when Hillary throws something at him, and that is nothing compared
to what the gopers are going to throw at him.

70. It's gonna take a whole helluva lot more than
vague hope and change bullshit to defeat the Republicans.
Obama is doomed.

77. This kind of mean attitude does not speak well for
for what type of people Obama attracts.

78. Emily, you missed the other thread where he said he is actively going to vote for McCain
and try to work to take Obama down if hes the nominee. That is the context of which I typed my response.

69. Nice list. No on 1. No on 2.Big no on 3, as he is a stealth establishment guy,
No on 4, as related to 1, because "situations on the ground demand that we stay". Yes on 5.

One out of five...not bad.

But again, he will not win.
