And that the Democratic party will ultimately succeed on March 6th; via the defection of a crucial number of superdelegates. I predict that the siege will happen in Texas and that it will be a bloodbath. Many political careers will perish.

In short, I predict that we will see a repeat of the following event:

1. She will be urged.... but she will refuse....
it's not in her nature to give up. She feels entitled to the Presidency.

16. What's wrong with you people are you so afraid of losing if
all the people vote? How old are you? Is this your first election, you sure act like it. In elections all registered citizens are supposed to be allowed to vote. I am sick of everyone wanting to keep me and my state from having a choice,or a chance to vote. If the race is decided by votes before the last states have their votes that's ok but until that time. Cool it. It is still a democracy last I checked.

26. i did not get to vote for
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 01:04 AM by beezlebum
kucinich, or edwards. they both dropped out before i had the chance to vote for them. i had the "option" of writing them in, but accepted that obama and clinton were the options.

and while i did and do complain that they were both treated rather unfairly, i didn't cry and piss and moan that my fellow dems (clinton and obama supporters who called for edwards and DK and gravel to drop out) were denying me my right to vote (and i still get to vote dem in november- try and stop my DU!!11! :P <-- edited to fix it).

i'll admit that perhaps, maybe, just maybe, these calls for clinton to "gracefully bow out, w/ her dignity still in tact" could be a tad premature- she'd better pull off something pretty big, and something legitimate and respectable. and if not, and she still refuses, then she risks her own image and respect, which is already tattered apparently, and leaves obama little time to prepare for november.

should hillary clinton bow out, as she seems to be being pressured to do, perhaps you could write her in if you just can't stomach obama.

19. You're Right On - And I Can't Wait Until Her Supporters Wake Up And Realize.......
that this whole campaign is about her and her aspirations. The voters and her supporters are only the means to her winding up in the White House. She really doesn't care about them - it's all about her.

She could have won this thing if she grabbed on to the American Dream = Hope campaign from the beginning. It would have been wonderful to see her as the first woman president. Unfortunately - her ego got in the way and she thought that she'd have this won back in the days of Iowa - at the beginning of this primary season. She didn't anticipate or her campaign didn't anticipate just how effective Obama and his campaign would be.

Now I'm afraid - it's too little - too late.

25. She wasn't the one that put her out in front it was the media
that put her out there. If you ever bothered to listen to her you would see the difference between an honest to goodness good knowledgeable person and a spiritualist

Maybe free of the prospect of being President, Hillary can finally be Hillary.

Currently they're polling about even, but they're both just starting to get things rolling in the state.

15. I read an article today that says that whoever wins East Texas
wins Texas.
That is why they sent Bill here instead of Hillary. People out here like Bill even if they don't like Hillary and feel they are getting a two-fer.
East Texas is mainly rural. They are going to go with an older candidate.
I was truly shocked at all of the older men that were at the rally in Tyler.

23. they are heavily weighted in the urban areas since Texas awards
delegates to districts according to the last vote. The more votes then the more delegates.

This idea of East Texas deciding anything is pretty funny. Texas has very heavy urban areas: DFW, Houston, Austin-San Antonio, El Paso. East Texas don't decide squat. We're long past the days of cattle drives......

Texas is going for Obama.

22. (edited-)It has to do with senate districts and how they turned out to vote
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 12:27 AM by Lisa0825
(edited: I thought you were replying to the post directly above yours so I answered on that basis)

in 2004, and I have heard that Rethug redistricting also diluted the hispanic vote, which Hillary was counting on. However, Obama is picking up a lot of Hispanic support.

Also, Texas has a combo of primary and caucus, and the caucus favors Obama.

21. Obama has a HUGE organization in Texas!
The campaign has THOUSANDS of volunteers, and the organizing has been literally of staggering proportions. I have seen little evidence of Clinton. I hadn't even heard that Bill would be in Houston today. I knew he was going to Galveston, but it was really under-publicized. I have had no knocks on my door, no phone call, no mailers. The only Hillary evidence I have seen has been TV commercials. That is just not enough.

I think Obama will take Texas. It is tied up now, and his amazing campaign organization will increase the lead over the next couple weeks.

24. I take back what I said....
I just googled the 2 phone calls from unfamiliar numbers I got while I was at the Obama rally (I never answer numbers I don't recognize without googling or hearing a voice mail).... they were from the Hillary Clinton campaign! LOL! Kind of interesting timing!

32. Hillary will lose Texas by 5-15 points, and by more delegates than that. Texas puts her OUT.
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 02:27 AM by TexasObserver
I agree. No need for her to fall on her sword. Better that she hangs around, gets thoroughly beaten by Obama in Texas and Ohio, and then gets out. She serves the same purpose a sparring partner does when the CHAMP is warming up for a real fight with a real contender.

...Just because I live in Pennsylvania and was really looking forward to getting the Iowa-treatment.

Like you, I'd love the opportunity to decide this thing once and for all.

Any particular reason you think they might be so significant? I guess that you feel this definitely won't be over at least until after March 4?

28. She fought so hard to get these debates I don't see her dropping out before them
If Obama makes a major gaff in either debate then she can play "gotcha" and maybe pull out Ohio and Texas.

It will also be a talking point for SD to go to Clinton because Barack may again gaff in the GE.

He just needs to get through them without a major mistake and then do well in Texas and Ohio, then we can see where we are at.
