David Frum and Amy Holmes already starting the memes...
...on CNN tonight.

Frum said McCain should hit Obama on his stance regarding immigration. Frum also noted Barack drawing attention to McCain's age by thanking him for his half-century of service, then characterized it as condescending and demanded Barack apologize for his ingratitude to this war hero. He said it will anger and alienate older voters, you know, the ones least likely to vote for Obama anyway.

Holmes hit on Michelle Obama's ingratitude toward her country, a nation she said made Michelle's good fortune possible.

This will be the likely tack from the GOP should Obama get the Dem nod: the pair of upstart--dare I say "uppity?"--ingrates who refuse to fall on their knees and thank God for being Americans and who don't show the respect due a true war hero and his "war mother" bride.

I was born the same year as Michelle Obama, but grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. It was smack dab in the middle of the civil right era, just a few months after four little girls were killed in bomb blast at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, a site not too far from our house. Believe me, with the crap I've seen in my lifetime, I completely understand her sentiment about reluctant patriotism.

And there's still a lot of racism out there, it's just more publicly covert, disguised in code words and the like. Should Obama win the nomination, we'll get to see it all on display once again in all its stealthy glory.

1. I heard it. I cannot stand Amy Holmes with her fake smile
Obama has to be careful though re: offending the older voters. I agree with them on that.

2. When Cindy McCain attacked Michelle Obama
I took a look at her and thought...I wonder what challenges she had to fight through. And then I take a look at her Bio in Wikipedia:

Cindy Lou Hensley grew up in affluent circumstances<4> in Phoenix, Arizona,<1> the daughter and only child<5> of James and Marguerite Hensley,<6> who founded Hensley & Company in 1955.<3> She attended Madison Meadows Elementary and was a rodeo queen in 1968.<7> She went to Central High School<5> in Phoenix. She graduated from the latter in 1972,<8> having been a cheerleader there.<9>

Hensley received her undergraduate degree in education<10> and a masters in special education from the University of Southern California.<11>She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.<12>
...
She is chair of Hensley & Company,<2><3> one of the largest Anheuser-Busch distributors in the nation.<2>

3. Being an heiress is hard work...
...she has to decide which set of tennis whites to wear to the club, whether to start drinking martinis before or after lunch, which charities to dole money toward, how to doctor the accounting books to hide her influential husband's kickbacks, how to break into the medicine cabinet at the clinic she supports, all kinds of stuff.

4. Come on... let's be gracious
The poor woman had to overcome opiate addiction. Opiates that she stole from her own charity.

Isn't that sad, that drugs made her steal from her own charity? I think that's sad. :(

5. Frum is stuck in the 1990s......and sounds pathetically hollow.....
looking for a fight, and Schultz looked at him as though Frum was pitiful...which he was.

Amy Holmes has a secret crush on Obama, and wish she would have done as well as Michelle in that department. Poor thang!

She's been relatively fair.....and kind of forgot that her childhood was nothing like that of Michelle Obama. Amy thinks that Michelle grew up in a upper class family like she did. :eyes:
