Edwards will Endorse Obama or No One Else
At this point, the strength of an Edwards endorsement is weak anyway...but if he DOES decide to endorse I find it hard to believe it won't be Obama. Either that, or no one at all. Because looking at Hillary's prospects going forward....well, it looks grim for her campaign. An endorsement of her from Edwards could come back to haunt him when/if she drops out in a few weeks. If Edwards really wanted to endorse, he should have done so weeks ago. Now it's virtually moot.

1. En Edwards endorsement would be very meaningful

as a signal of party unity, not so much in electoral terms.
Of course, the decision is up to him and I believe he will not endorse.

2. Well, he didn't say so. You did.
Another case of Obama supporters claiming to speak for other people. Notice how that's going around?

9. Bingo
Of course it goes both ways, some Hillary supporter will make a similar claim tomorrow.
All dragging the forum down in the process.

3. I think so too- and there was something in Obama's speech last night that might be a clue-
He was adamant about not taking lobbyist money- he said it very loudly and reminded the audience that no other candidate could say this and I think he said something about what Clinton had taken so far- but he was very clear about this and whatever the line was- I remember thinking that could have been something he promised Edwards he'd remind people of since that was so important to Edwards. So we'll see.

5. OpenSecrets.org
Shows that Obama is taking in plenty of money from corporate interests. Saying he's not taking money from *lobbyists* is disingenuous.

13. You don't know how to read that data in OpenSecrets.org.
The companies report shows where INDIVIDUALS work, NOT WHAT COMPANIES gave him the money. If you look at the reports for each candidate, it shows PERCENT OF CONTRIBUTION FROM INDIVIDUALS. Obama is at 99%. The other donations he's received have been from MoveOn.org.

It looks like OpenSecrets.org is down or I'd post the direct link (I've done it before here).

7. John Edwards is irrelevant, except for a few that are still hanging on to him
Honestly, his endorsement means shit. He couldn't win re-election in NC if he tried, lost the primaries in '04, lost with Kerry, and lost the primaries early in '08. He's likeable enough, but really, he has no real pull anywhere.

11. Any endorsement train Edwards could have engineered has passed
At this point I think few people care what he does. The value of his 26 delegates has decreased sharply.

12. Edwards implicitly endorsed Obama the day he dropped out.....here's why....
Edwards knew that he was appealing to the same segment of the vote that Obama was.... the anti-Hillary, anti-oligarchy, time-for-a-change vote.

By dropping out a week before Super Tuesday, he gave his supporters a chance to gravitate to Obama.

And they did.... big time.

Exit polling on Super Tuesday showed that Edwards supporters went to Obama by a margin of about 3-to-1.

Edwards dropping out of the race was the worst thing that happened to Hillary's campaign. John Edwards is a smart man. He knew what the result of his exit would be.

By getting out when he did, he implicitly endorsed Obama.

14. I don't think Edwards is going to endorse anyone, at this point.
Hillary is not out of this yet, and he and Gore may be needed to help broker the convention if there is no clear nominee by then.

Peace:thumbsup:
