Ohio Republicans can Vote for Clinton in the Primary

Ohio is a semi-open primary. In a semi-open primary, "All voters may vote in any single primary, but must publicly declare which primary they will vote in before entering the voting booth. Typically this declaration is accomplished by requesting a ballot. In many states with semi-open primaries, election officials record each voter's choice of party and provide the parties access to the information." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primary_election

The elected Republicans in Ohio are pushing Clinton. I'm sure just like Wisconsin, the conservative talk radio will be urging their listeners to vote for Clinton.

This morning I read on Huffington Post that a review of WI precincts showed Obama's win would have been larger if not for conservative Republicans coming out to vote for Clinton.

1. The memo is to vote for Obama, it's been that way since Iowa.

2. Why Do They Always Vote For Obama Then?
You are misleading. On purpose?

9. Oh please. The Republicans need to UNITE their party and that is
something that only Clinton can do.

By the way, I have family in many parts of Ohio and they report Republicans are being urged to vote for Clinton.

14. It makes perfect sense, and I believe you're right.
She would unite their party like no one else. Repubs have their nominee, so have nothing really to gain by voting repub. It makes sense that they would be being told to vote for the easier-to-beat, hated-on-the-right candidate.

Obama will really have to GOTV in Ohio, I think, but I would guess the same thing was happening in WI, so I'm hopeful.

15. Oh please. That is NOT the truth. HIllary is the republican dream candidate
You clearly aren't paying attention.

The dems in more and more numbers don't even like Hillary.

She will unite the base like no other and they are hoping that dems will stay home if she succeeds in getting the nomination, especially if its the result of back room deals!

4. There of folks from both sides of the aisle gaming the system, but overall I'd bet that it's
statistically insignificant. It's just not that big of a deal when HRC is getting her ass handed to her by 15% in almost every state.

6. I agree.. the Repugs don't know what they want..
1/2 of them think Clinton would be easier to beat - so they're voting for her. The other 1/2 are terrified of Clinton actually winning, so they're voting for Obama "just in case".

I think both small groups of Republicans that are doing this, are cancelling each other out.

This does NOT include the other portion of Republicans that are actually voting for Obama because they like him, like what he stands for, or just like him a little bit more then McCain. This is why I think we see statistically - more republicans vote for Obama.. there really are quite a few that actually like the guy.

5. Republicans voting for Clinton?
I don't think so.

As info, declaring party affiliation in an Ohio primary automatically registers you as a member of that party for 2 years.

8. This IS happening.. some republicans
really think Clinton would be easier to beat then Obama, and since McCain basically has the nom, they're voting for Clinton - because they'd rather be up against her in November then Obama.

As I just stated in a previous post, there are others that are doing the opposite- they think Clinton is tougher to beat then Obama - so they're voting for him. I think that both groups are pretty much cancelling each other out at the end of the day.

7. I guess they can...
...but they won't. "Republicans for Clinton" is a pretty small club.

Any republicans that cross the aisle will do so to vote for Obama.

people vote for who they like more. They like Obama more than Hillary.

11. Sorry I don't buy it, whether the repukes vote for Obama or Clinton
Either way, the republicans have a major problem, and they know it

Look at the voter turnouts, Democrats verses republicans

I am an Obama supporter, but WHOEVER our candidate is, the republicans are going down big time

With mccain running there is NO question that he represents an extension of bush, and THIS time if people vote for THAT, then the country is really lost and deserves everything that they are getting and more

However, I don't think that will happen, the people realize that the emperor has no clothes. There is a reason why more people are voting in the Democratic primaries than the republican primaries, and that reason is that cross-overs are occurring because THEY WANT THE REPUBLICANS OUT

12. Well if someone is telling Republicans to vote for Hillary they are not listening.
Republicans and Independents have been voting for Obama big time. And a vote for Obama now makes a vote for him in the GE more likely.

13. Anyone who knows Ohio Voter Registration Law, a Question: My son
called last night. He registered to vote there last week and called the Elections Office to see when his voter card would arrive. He was told there was a 30 day waiting period and he would not be able to vote in the March 4 primary.

Is this true? If so, wow. Wonder what kind of impact this will have on the turnout for new/young voters?
