Three years ago, I was wrong about Barack Obama...
I thought he could never win the US Senate race in IL. I was for Nancy Skinner. I thought he couldn't win because of his name. It sounded like Osama. Many people thought in a similar way. Now, fast forwarding to the presidential race, I do not see this as a handicap for him anymore. Perhaps there is a small minority that will think he is a terrorist, a Manchurian candidate, a Muslim, but I do not believe it is a significant number to matter. Just to say that I was wrong back then.

Now, I think we, as a Party, have an opportunity to win in a landslide if we become united. I look at the results in Wisconsin and I see that Hillary got more votes than McCain and Huckabee together. She beat them by almost 50,000 votes. But, Obama got almost 200,000 votes more than Hillary! Combined, they defeated the Republicans in the primary voter participation, however meaningless, by almost 3/4 of a million votes. Together, this is a formidable force. Keep that in mind.

1. Yep -- the name thing seems to have lost its punch already.
How many times can the Obama haters repeat that? Anyone who wouldn't vote for him because of his name is already a Republican anyway -- and not the moderate kind who might consider voting for Obama in the general.

It's such a juvenile thing after awhile, people roll their eyes.

I really think we have dodged a huge bullet. I believe strongly that Hillary would have been an extremely weak candidate in the general and she would have been the only one to motivate the demoralized Republicans to come out in droves to vote against us.

With Obama we're in great shape. GREAT shape. :)

2. Ironically.. i think quite a few won't vote for Hillary because of HER name..
"Oh, she's a Clinton.. HELL NO".. end of story. Fair? Not at all.. but it is the way it is right now. Some don't like Obama because of his name, some don't like Clinton because of her last name too.
