I was a right-win activist called Richard Taylor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerry_Fonda_2004_election_photo_controversyParanoia about the MSM is silly. The mainstream media is corporate and presents the news in a sensationalistic way most of the time to sell advertising, and sometimes in a slanted way to please its owners. However, it has always been like this - look back at the history of journalism. And before you come back 101 anecdotal examples of bias in the media, ask yourself why so many right-wingers are convinced that the MSM is dominated by liberals and hates thr gith - or are all these right-win MSM haters also part of a conspiracy to make the MSM appear liberal when it is?
As for the video of Michelle Obama talking about pride in her country, yes it was edited. Sloppily at that - I work in film and I could have done it a lot smoother. On the other hand, she did give several speeches that day, in one of which she said she was proud, and in another she said she was really proud.
So she got edited in someone's lame attempt to make a cheap smear even dirtier. Well, that's what you get when politics meets the internet. The edited video was quickly exposed as having been doctored, undermining the intention of the person who posted it. So the smartest thing to do is let the issue die and move on. Cooking up theories about whether it's all part of some big media conspiracy just plays into the hands of right-wingers who say everyone on the left wears tinfoil hats.
Think of boxing or any other sport. sometimes fouls are commited. The referee imposes a penalty of some kind. The game continues. They don't stop and make it into a big legal case. Occasionally disputes become more heated, but if they go on too long people get annoyed with the complainants. So accept that the video was a dirty play, but it's been exposed as such. Now it's time to carry on with the positive campaign, which is what most people care about.
