Clinton campaign starts talking Puerto Rico
Just hours after the dust settled from her 10th consecutive loss to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), embattled Democratic candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) campaign said she will be in a position to “clinch the nomination” at about the time Puerto Rico votes.

Puerto Rico, the last contest in the primary and caucus season, will not vote until June 7.

Harold Ickes, a senior adviser to Clinton, said on a conference call with reporters that while the camp of the former first lady sees Obama as the frontrunner, the campaign continues to believe it will narrow the gap with the Illinois senator and pick up delegates in the coming weeks and months.

June 7th! Half of GDP will be tombstoned before then.

It would appear she's not of any mind to give up the fight. All things considered I can respect that.

What's wrong with that? Why is it a destructive, hurtful thing to do? Obama's running, too.

27. He's winning contests
The difference is that Hillary's campaign seems to be going against the tide of what the voters want. Personally I think she'll stay in until March 4th, but if she doesn't win big on that day she's going to lose all her credibility.

she was ahead before, but I didn't see people screaming for Obama to drop out.

It's not over yet. Why get mad at her for continuing the race? It makes no sense.

31. when was she ahead?
She hasn't been. Certainly not like this. He won Iowa. She won NH. She won NV- but he won more delegates there. He won SC. They split 2/5. Since then he's beat her by no less than 17 pts in 10 straight races. Again, I don't think she should drop out, but she's never had the kind of lead on him that he has on her. And this thing is well over half completed.

I still find the calls for her to step down silly and insulting.

They both wanna be President - I don't see one side being "at fault" for that.

Using superdelegates. When the only way to win is to steal the election, I call that having lost.

42. Yes, they have. Check with Howard Fineman, or any of the delegate counters.
The math says that Clinton would have to win all of the remaining competitive states by 65% to even catch up, let alone surpass Obama in delegates.

which she received more pledged delegates.

This has been obscured because most media outlets have included superdelegates in their counts. In fact, Super Tuesday is the only day, of nine different voting days, in which Hillary won more pledged delegates in any state.

Jan 3: Iowa Obama 16, Clinton 15
Jan 8: NH Obama 9, Clinton 9
Jan 19: Nevada Obama 13, Clinton 12
Jan 26: SC Obama 25, Clinton 12
Feb 5: 22 states: various counts, but all had Obama winning more; msnbc: Obama 861 Clinton 855; wikipedia: Obama 847 Clinton 834
Feb 9: Obama sweeps Louisiana, Washington, Nebraska and Virgin Islands
Feb 10: Maine Obama 15 Clinton 9
Feb 12: Obama sweeps 3 Potomac contests
Feb 19: Obama sweeps Wisconsin and Hawaii

I have numbers to back up my claim.

There is no way Hillary can win this without
a)MI and FL
b)Superdelegate Strings being pulled
c)Poaching Obama's pledged delegates

She cannot win this fairly.
She will not be allowed to steal this.
She is finished.

2. Novak said Obama was the favorite in Puerto Rico because of
the endorsement of the governor- that he has some big political machine he can put at Obama's disposal.

I'm skeptical of that, but really don't know anything about PR politics to say differently.

I will say that Hillary's appeal among Latinos seems to be strongest among Mexican-Americans, and Obama was strong in the Potomac primaries among the hispanics there, who are largely Guatemalan and from other areas.

GWB has discredited the Bush side of the dynasty. Hillary is doing her best to sink the Clinton side. Staying in until June 7th, loss, after loss, after loss, will certainly finish the job.

This is certainly a positive development for democracy in America.

I think this is a rally cry to the troops to let them know she's a fighter statement.

I'd like to think since Bill already admitted today Texas is going to make-or-break Hillary, she'll do the right thing if it goes against her.

However, Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX and superdelegate) did decide to endorse Obama today. Just last week he was still on the fence as to if he would make a choice before the primary. I wondered if his decision didn't have something to do with putting enough momentum behind Obama to nip this in the bud before it goes sour for the party.
