This latest story about McCain may take him down and boost the GOP
for the GE. I would be careful about getting overjoyed right now. It could mean that a surprise might be in order at the GPO convention that would unite the GOP and get those crossover folks and the pledged stay-at-homers in the Dobson camp.

1. They didn't have a stronger candidate than McCain. They're fatally wounded.

2. No, it won't. He's wrapped it up. This is the best possible time for him to leak it.

5. Agreed, get it out while our party is still infighting over the nomination, then ....
hopes it blows over by the time of the convention.

7. But if this is serious enough he might be forced to resign his candidacy.
Then the Repuke convention would pick the nominee.

4. He's good at weathering these things.
He'll cry a little, confess his "sins" and carry on as usual. Cindy's confessed to drug use twice and yet they still go on. (and from the way she's looking lately, she'll need a third confessional)

6. This might actually make him look potent to the Repugs.
