John McCain Had An Affair With A Lobbyist Named Eisman?
What is this I'm hearing about John McCain having or had an affair with a lobbyist named Ms. Eisman? Apparently his aides had to intervene so they could "save McCain from himself". They had to block the woman's access to him. Is anyone else familiar with this story, and can you shed some light?

During John McCain's first presidential run eight years ago, advisers became concerned over the Arizona senator's relationship with a female lobbyist, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both denied they ever had had a romantic relationship, the paper reported on its Web site.

However, the report went on to say that even the appearance of a close bond with a lobbyist had McCain's advisers worried. Iseman was attending fundraisers with McCain, was often seen in his offices and in at least one occasion flew with him on one of her client's private jets, the Times said.

Staff members moved to block the woman's access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

There's lots of fairly well-reported innuendo about a lobbyist named Vicki Iseman and a well-written recapitulation of the case against McCain as a good judge of optics... ... but nothing to suggest that McCain compromised his political principles. That said, the interest will be intense because the story was so heavily anticipated. And the wink-wink-nod-nod assertion that McCain allegedly acknowledged unspecified "improprieties" to some aides is bound to be the part of this that kicks for a while.

The ONLY way this becomes an issue is if there is evidence that McCain took legislative actions on her part based on their relationship - whether or not there was sex. This would be something worth discussing.
