3. Well he certainly has a 20s/30s vibe to his propaganda posters:
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 11:57 PM by smalll
I've seen even better examples than this one -- they show up on Obamites' posts here now and then even, but this is a typical example I could google up:

Note the selection of "a man on horseback" to the right. Note pretty much everything else. Let me just say this, and I am NOT trying to say anything about Obama the man himself, his policy positions or his politics, but his campaign clearly has a fascist sense of style.

5. Yeah that is actually kind of creepy. I doubt few other politicians could get away with such a self-
reverential (is that a word?) poster.

6. For god's sake
The "man on horseback" that chiils you so is a Boston landmark. It's Paul Revere.

It was on the logo for the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

11. I'd guessed it might be him. But "look" -- there's a lot of landmarks in Boston -
the Great Man bathed in divine light just HAPPENS to be set off in that rally poster by that particular Boston icon. A man on horseback. Strikes me as dogwhistling to the historical memory of the collective subconscious.

16. Yeah, best design team. This stuff's not for "geezers" --
How about his event team though? I've got an awesome idea for them. They do so well with these rallies, why not plan and arrange for a huge, extra awesome megarally -- have young Obama supporters all congregate in one place -- set up a tent city for them, it'll be like a big ol' jamboree or something. Get the O-man to speak to the assembled multitudes on some huge-ass field. And here's the kicker -- surround the field with big searchlights, point them right up at the sky, and at night, with a few passing clouds, the whole scene will be transformed into a cathedral of light!

Wow. My ideas area really flowing this evening! Have the O-man arrive on an airplane at the rally, have him descend out of the skies, and have the whole event taped and edited into a full-length feature film! I know Spike Lee is already actively supporting Obama. Maybe he could do it?

I don't think it's appropriate to go comparing Obama with Hitler.

This i really more in the socialist vein. Facists just kill dissenters. Propaganda isn't needed for them.

It was the symbol of emperors and kings, of Napoleons and caudillos.

is always sourced in socialism. This is what is meant and shown through context. Your handle choice becomes clearer.

The man on horse back in this case is a sculpture of paul revere. You can find out more about him here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Revere

read and learn, until then, i prescribe the internet taken twice a day.

40. My handle choice becomes clearer? So does yours --
(the "kult" part.) And I can't make heads nor tails of that statement of yours: "any form of national propaganda using personailty cults is always sourced in socialism." :wtf:

"Sourced" in socialism? Is that anything like the way fancy restaurants gets their ingredients these days? They don't buy them or otherwise acquire them, they "source" them.

That way I'll get it for free once they start committing people to mental institutions for political errors.

39. Well one thing you younguns don't seem to know is the English language as she is written -
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 01:15 AM by smalll
Let's edit your post:

(To start with, your first sentence doesn't actually have a working verb at all. But I'll let that slide. I like to indulge in verbless sentences too now and then for terseness.)

"Proxy insult phrase used to inflict pain on those that clearly know more than you yet who refuse to listen to your meanderings." (The "as well" at the end is redundant in the "that _______ yet _______" structure you'd selected.)

"Living long doesn't make you (no need for the R that time) smart or mean you're smart. It's just a sign of good physical genetics." (I'm tempted to strike the "physical" as well next to the "genetics" for redundancy, but I'll give you another pass.)

Overall, watch your apostrophes, brush up on you/your/you're/yours, avoid redundancy, and you're well on your way to literacy!

Cause from where I sit and many others, these kids appear to be the most immature and mind numbingly ignorant group I've ever seen here. You'd be wiser to ask them to grow up a bit, but I digress...
