TX: Fire crews called to Clinton headquarters

Firefighters were called to the Austin headquarters for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign after smoke was reported in the building.

AFD responded to Clinton’s headquarters at 701 E. Ben White around 8:45 p.m. Firefighters found smoke coming out of the roof and were able to quickly put it out.

A fire official said the cause of the smoke was a malfunctioning air handling unit on the roof.

The building had been evacuated when fire crews arrived. There were no injuries.

A Clinton volunteer said Wednesday evening that 50-60 volunteers had been in the building at the time.
