It doesn't look like Hilary is going past Texas |

The next two after Texas and Ohio. http://www.hillaryclinton.com/hq/wyoming/http://www.hillaryclinton.com/hq/mississippi/I am thinking she should end this

to stay in if she wants, don't you think?
At least she and her supporters wouldn't be left wondering "what if....."

10. She has earned the right no doubt about it |
|
I can totally understand wanting to avoid the what if also. I think with things looking the way they are though it will take an act of god for her to win this thing. If she stays till Ohio and Texas I really have no problem with it. If she somehow pulls out big wins there then I guess theres still hope for her but given that she doesn't even have a schedule for anything past that it will still be damn hard for her to catch up.
I think the writing on the wall is pretty clear though if you look at it. I would much rather she dropped out early in an effort to let the party heal itself than she goes down swinging wildly. It would be better for her and better for the Dem's in general IMHO.
She is absolutely free though to do whatever she wishes.

19. Yesterday Randi Rhodes likened herself to Hillary in that they both were |
|
so absolutely convinced of their roles (Randi in radio, Hillary as Prez) that they never even considered a Plan B.
This entire turn around must be surreal for her - maybe she's just has to drift to a close and slowly let the acceptance wash over her.
I agree that it would be better for her and for the Dems if she were to bow out gracefully - she risks looking REALLY desperate and that can't serve her nor our party well.
On the other hand :7 although it's pretty much a wrap, this campaign season has been SO full of switchbacks and surprises, so...
I just posted earlier -- remember when we were terrified of going up against McCain? And now we seem to feel he'll be easy to squash.

anything could happen and has it seems this time around. No matter what it has been exciting to watch.
McCain lost his fear factor for me after 2000 when he started kissing Bushes ass. When he was straight talk he had a shot, now he is an old stale tired pretzel. The contrast of him and Barrack onstage alone will sink him forget the fact that Obama has proven to have an incredible ground game that can be restarted easily for the GE.

When she goes on TV an announces she's suspending her campaign is when I'll believe she's finished. I just can't see her dropping out. I wish she would, but I can't see it.

2. I think she is writing off Wyoming and Mississippi |
|
It's the standard Democrat* Party establishment technique of writing off red states.
*I will hereby refer to the party establishment as the "Democrat" Party because they have such contempt for the people. They are not democratic.

5. Voter registration is *everything* in PA ... the deadline in March 24 |
|
as I'm sure you know, and it's a closed primary.
If the Obama campaign makes heroic voter registration efforts on college campuses and in black areas, they can negate some of the closed primary disadvantages.

8. That's what worries me about PA. We lost in AZ because of this. |
|
We had an awesome organization here, whereas Clinton's was anemic at best. We tried our hardest to get people to reregister (and our deadline was a full month before the election). We got thousands of indies to switch to D but in the end it wasn't enough, and thousands more of them showed up to the polls and were turned away because they didn't realize they had to register as a Dem.

I'll be on the ground getting people to register all of next month. I'm right smack in the middle of UPitt, CMU, and close to a couple of other colleges :)
Organizational meeting in my area is on March 1st.

26. Indeed. Right now, we aren't as concerned about formal events |

We are all about GOTV, registration drives and collecting names and numbers of volunteers.
Once the camp arrives (the Wisconsin Campaign manager will be here Monday), then we will have our standing army ready to organize under their leadership.

18. She can't afford to be in PA with the debt she's wracked up. |
|
News today says her campaign is in the hole by about $7M, unpaid bills in IA(!) still. She's on life support at this point.
She may try and put up a hail mary at tonight's debate, but I'll bet her heart really isn't in it. She's not stupid, she can see the writing on the wall and I'm sure there are plenty of party operatives whispering in her ear about salvaging her career so she can run again in '12 if the Goopers win again.

She's putting everything she has into Ohio and Texas, because she can't afford to be anywhere else and if she loses either one of those she's done anyway.
I don't think she's about to stop fighting though, I don't think that's in her nature.

She is gambling all her money in Texas and Ohio. If she wins big in these states, she hopes that the money will come in to move on to Pennsylvania and beyond.
There just isn't enough money to do more now. She is nearly broke.

its all or nothing time. Even if she pulls off those wins though its going to still be hard to play catch up going forward. She will still have to go from 0-60 in a split second and Obama already has groundwork in place in everything going forward.

31. If she wins Texas, Ohio and Penn, |
|
her argument will be that she has won the vast majority of large states and even if he has more delegates, even some won after these states, it will not matter.
She will ask the supers to come to her side. And that would be interesting. I hope it does not come to that. But she will tear the party that way if she has to, to win.

we have been discussing the fact that Hillary's debt is now so far out that she may be running a facade to limit her expenditures so that the contributions continue to come in. Your thread was the evidence I was looking for. It would be interesting to see if they are doing much in media buys in OH and TX.

Theres an interesting take. You are basically saying that she is only continuing so she can pay off her debt. Something that hadn't occurred to me but might just be a motivating factor. We will know when we see the numbers next month.
