Okay first the back story. . .

I had a gig today and the guy who hired me was in attendance. He rarely shows up as he lives 6 hours and several states away.

I've worked for him and his agency for nearly 9 years. I've always respected him and thought he was quite astute.

Before we started we shot the breeze for a short while. He like a lot of people said he was deeply concerned about economic collapse.
He listed a list of restaurant and retail chains that were teetering and about to file bankruptcy. We discussed the causes briefly.

Then he said and "we're about to get a Muslim terrorist in the WH. He took his oath of office swearing on the Koran. He scares me."

I said "No one is scarier than our VP and Obama has been attending a Christian church which is multi racial for 20-25 years and has worked in cooperation with Christian charities on the south side of Chicago since he was fresh out of law school. He didn't take his oath swearing on the Koran either. I've not seen such an inspirational orator in politics in my lifetime."

The question. . .

If memory serves wasn't it a Muslim Congressman who took his oath of office on the Koran in early '07 and isn't this a total distortion that Obama did?"

I'm 99% sure that is the case. Just want to make sure as he is on the road and I'm about to call my agent and straighten him out some more. Just need verification.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- Allegations that Sen. Barack Obama was educated in a radical Muslim school known as a "madrassa" are not accurate, according to CNN reporting.

Insight Magazine, which is owned by the same company as The Washington Times, reported on its Web site last week that associates of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-New York, had unearthed information the Illinois Democrat and likely presidential candidate attended a Muslim religious school known for teaching the most fundamentalist form of Islam.

Obama lived in Indonesia as a child, from 1967 to 1971, with his mother and stepfather and has acknowledged attending a Muslim school, but an aide said it was not a madrassa. (Watch video of Obama's school )

Insight attributed the information in its article to an unnamed source, who said it was discovered by "researchers connected to Senator Clinton." A spokesman for Clinton, who is also weighing a White House bid, denied that the campaign was the source of the Obama claim.

He called the story "an obvious right-wing hit job."

It will be Keith Ellison.

The new Congressman from Minnesota will declare his loyalty to the Constitution while clutching a copy of the Koran that was once owned by Jefferson. One of many Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist texts that the author of the Declaration of Independence donated to the Library of Congress at its founding, the Jefferson Koran has been loaned to Ellison by the rare book and special collections division of the library.

This is not mere symbolism. Ellison understands the Jeffersonian impulse that underpins the American experiment.

"When I'm officially sworn in, I will do it the same exact way as every other Congressperson-elect who was sworn in," explains the Representative from Minneapolis. "We will all stand up and in unison lift our hand and swear to uphold that Constitution, and then later, in a private ceremony, of course I'll put my hand on a book that is the basis of my faith, which is Islam, and I think that this is a beauty--this is a wonderful thing for our country because Jewish members will put their hands on the Torah. Mormon members will put their hand on the Book of Mormon. Catholic members will put their hand on the book of their choice--and members that don't want to put their hand on any book are also fully free to do that. That's the American way.... I think the diversity of our country is a great strength. It's a good thing that we have people from all faiths and all cultures to come here."

This shit just really pisses me off.

I was talking to my sister (a devout Christian) a couple of weeks ago and when the subject of Obama came up she says, "Isn't he a muslim?" I vehemently said that he was not. But I then I also had to try to convince her that even if he was a muslim, who cares?
