I have something simple to say to all Hiillary supporters
As a Hillary supporter, I firmly believe that Hillary can win Ohio and Texas if we *DO NOT* feel discouraged or dismayed about what happened in Wiscousin. According to the exit polls, she still have a slight edge among white democrat women, she barely lost to Obama among registered democrats, 53 - 46.

We have an advantage in Ohio and Texas, why can't we win? Tell me why?

The only reason we will lose is if we have the belief that we can't win and we give up and we no longer feel excited about Hillary's chance to be the first female president.

So if Hillary lose because of YOUR negativity, I will blame her loss on you.

So can Hillary count on your support or can she not?

She can count on me!

2. are you kidding?? that has to be MA, even MN or CA but not Wisc. , both 00 and 04 were settled by
less than 1%, there are dem strongholds in Milw. and Madison and the Lake Superior shore up north, otherwise conservatives abound in many of the more rural areas and including the Fox Valley from Green Bay down to Fond du Lac.

I really think Hc had a great shot but she didn't campaingn herself enough and pulled out early. She got outspent 4-1.

I agree that Wisconsin isn't.

4. she could have won there if she spent more money there
she had the support of the very progressive Tammy Baldwin, and regarding Wisconsin being the most liberal state I think that's both incorrect and irrelevant, especially in the primaries. Clinton in fact tends to win more liberal states, e.g. Massachussetts and New York.

Clinton won here.

Mass is a close second; Clinton won there, too.

But at any rate, a) it's subjective and impossible to measure, and b) I'm pretty sure it ISN'T Wisconsin.

15. No, it's not. Vermont is
more liberal by practically every measure, from the environment to enacting civil unions years before NJ. And no other state in the country would elect a socialist Senator.

BTW, NJ has the best gay rights laws in the country. Vermont may have had domestic partnerships first, but NJ offers the best protection by far.

74. Not from what I've read.
NJ has had problems with their CU law as I understand it. Vermont hasn't. Anyway, we're moving toward full marriage rights here, and a majority of Vermonters support it. And NJ has nothing like VT's environmental laws or health care programs for those who can't afford regular health care. The VT Senate voted to impeach Bush, as have 54 towns here. We're definitely a far more liberal state- and we don't have a corruption or scandal problem in politics.

77. NJ has had problems with the CU law -- that's why they're changing it to marriage
The problems NJ has had with the CU law is individual companies challenging it, because they're not incorporated in NJ.

NJ is the only state that recognizes same-sex partnerships from other states and countries.

We also have the best anti-gay bullying laws and the best transgendered protection laws in the country.

Corruption and scandals have nothing to do with how liberal a state is.

7. WI had demographics favorable to Hillary
Her campaign made a tactical mistake not to work on WI harder. It is NOT the most liberal state, either. It barely elected Kerry in 04.

Hillary supporters should not despair. THey ARE facing an uphill battle, however there is something to be said for hope.... You should put in your hours for your candidate gladly. Even if you lose, you can feel better about it if you tried. In my view, it would take a goof by Obama to give Hillary an opening...but without workers doing volunteer work, it might not make a difference.

Yes, your efforts will make a difference. Proudly support Hillary.
I disagree with your choice, but i admire your effort.

Wisconsin is not considered to be a particularly liberal state. It doesn't come close to being as liberal as my state of Vermont or MA or CA or WA or NJ or RI. And she was heavily favored to win it just 2 weeks ago. Revisionist history.

They can go to the Hillary forum. I assume we have one.

Otherwise this is an open place and any number of folks will chime in. As long as we're respectful, I don't see the problem.

If people are only jumping in to disrupt and not comment though, that would be different.

3. In literature, that's called the Pathetic Fallacy
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 06:17 PM by Bucky
For what it's worth, the term Patthetic Fallacy is not meant as a put down. It's the beliefe that your emotions are reflected in the weather or that the world around you embodies your internal emotions--like how it always rains when you're sad, or there's blustery wind when you're struggling with existential questions. One's mood does not control external events. Feeling glum about one's candidate's prospects doesn't actually affect whether people vote for your candidate.

out here in the open forum people are free to say whatever.

That's what us Kerry folks do. THERE it is indeed rude to show up if you're not a supporter and if you have something destructive to say.

Get a room if y'all want privacy.

I've given her more money than I've ever given a political candidate and I will make calls and do anything else I can.

I certainly am not ready to give up and I think she can still win this.

I just finished writing a letter to Senator Webb a few minutes ago asking him to seriously consider endorsing Hillary Clinton. I laid out all of the reasons I think she is the better candidate and all the reasons I feel Obama is not the right person right now for the job.

I encourage everyone to write their Senators. I think Webb is a superdelegate.

24. Of course! Here are some suggestions... please read!
This has become largely a psychological contest, IMHO. People like to go with a winner, whether its football or the presidential nomination. The media started questioning HIllary's ability to win just before Feb 4, and even after she'd won CA, NY, NJ, FL... the largest states so far. That constant barrage of "faltering campaign," etc., makes us feel as though the delegate count were as far apart as in the Republican race. In fact, she is down fewer than 100 delegates, and there are many more states to go. In Wisconsin, for instance, as big as that was, Obama only gained 10 more delegates than she. It has been demonstrated--even by these media outlets--that neither Obama nor HIllary will gain the delegates necessary to secure the nomination. She needs to stay in until June, because races change quickly. Look what's happening to John McCain this week, for instance. The Rezko trial was moved from 2/29 to the day before the next primary (lucky (?) for Obama), and who knows what will come from the Sinclair accusation after his polygraph on the 29th? The point is, whether or not these accusations are true, they have an effect. That's the world we live in, now.

So if you are for Hillary, write TX, OH, PA newspaper reporters and offer them credible information and suggest topics (their addresses are often listed after their articles), blog on non DU sites (posting on DU isn't going to help Hillary--everyone's decided here already), and make calls to TX and OH http://tools.hillaryclinton.com/calling/ , and if you can, donate (even $10 helps)! On her website, under "states," find your state. The page will list the campaign offices. Contact them and see how you can help. Many people from across the country are going to Texas or Ohio to help.

Hang in there, everyone!

25. I've been going to bat for her for the past week here
I've been a member for over 4 years here and seldom felt compelled to respond or reply to the majority of the people posting here...but the Hillary bashing around here has been brutal and unfounded...and I've been getting beat up for my belief and support of HRC...

I firmly believe she will win...not may win...

The MSM machine that has "fallen in love" with Obama is just to get the masses against her...and divide our party...Hillary is the best and only candidate that can repair the damages to our democracy and constitution...

I hope others understand that she is the only one with the experience and the abilities to control our gov't...she has been fantastic here in New York as my Senator...and my firsthand experience with her staff and their genuine support and help with problems that I had went above and beyond...

Her staff even helped my sister in Binghamton NY who has a very rare and deadly disease get an appointment with a doctor at Syracuse University...my sister and brother-in-law could get absolutely no help from any doctors or any other elected official(s)...BUT HILLARY 'S OFFICES HELPED...

All I can truly say...Hillary will always get my support and vote...If I had money...I would give her all that I could...no questions asked...

Go Hillary...Go Hillary...Go Hillary

31. winning isn't the name of the game
She has to win Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania by racking up close to 70% of the vote; otherwise, the delegate split will still leave her shot of Obama. I don't believe she's won anywhere by that margin. Even if she squeaks by with a small win, she simply won't get the necessary delegates.

I'm one of those don't give a flying rat's patooie what yer gender is.

Although I will admit that a Hillary win would be the biggest in-your-face F*ck You to the GOP evah! :)
