Here's my thought on Michelle's statement. Make it a slogan
for the campaign: "Be REALLY proud of America again, vote Obama."

1. Not Quite What She Said, But Not A Bad Slogan.
Would've been far better if she said it like you did.

2. My point is that if people see "really" often enough it will sink in
that her comment was edited.

5. Well, it depends on which of the two videos of her you watch from that day.
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 07:04 PM by parasim
The one earlier in the day, you're right, she didn't say really. In the one from later in the day she did indeed say really.

However, that one the word "really" was edited out in some versions of it. Why someone took the time to edit out the word in that particular video when they could have just run the earlier one, is beyond me.

on edit: here's the video where "really" has been edited out:
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/02/18/michelle-obama-hasnt-been-proud-of-america-in-at-least-26-years/

btw, let it be known that is the first time, and hopefully the last that I have ever linked to Malkin's site... :scared:

9. Thank you
I am tired of seeing this false crap right here on DU. You bet they edited "really" out of her comment. And it's pretty obvious why if you just think about it for a minute.

10. She Didn't Say Really.
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 07:09 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
Why do you continue to act like that simply didn't happen?

23. Because it was edited out
Why do you continue to be such an ass about this? More than a few DUers actually heard her say it. Are you calling us liars?

Jesus.

13. Obviously.
But that's not the video that everybody has been showing, including Fox News. They linked to the video that I linked to (via HotAir) and not the one you supposedly were talking about. The edited one has been getting all the airplay.

All I was trying to do was clarify that there is a video out there where "really" was edited out.

Sheesh...

My personal feeling is that in the earlier video, Michelle unintentionally left out the word "really", but I never questioned her sentiment. You, obviously disagree.

16. No it wasn't..........
She said essentially the same thing twice. Once with 'really' once without.

Really.:eyes:

3. How about: "I'm no longer ASHAMED of America! Obama made me PROUD"
Not very catchy, I'll grant you, but it'll catch the attention of those Raygun republicans Obama's been a~courtin'.

24. Michelle Obama is the one who said she has NEVER BEEN PROUD OF AMERICA...
Go tell Michelle Obama not to lob soft~balls to her husband's detractors. There's no reason why anyone should cut her any slack. The goose et al.

8. As a Clinton supporter,
I heartily endorse this approach. She should keep saying it.

Barack should incorporate it into his speeches. It should be a central tenet of his campaign.

If you would like for her original comments to be used as a campaign slogan, try not to have any more thoughts.

20. That would have to be "really proud of America FOR THE FIRST TIME" to be consistent
There were two speeches. In the first, she says it's the first time she's ever been proud of America, while in the second, it's the first time she's ever been REALLY proud of America. Either way, it's the first time she's been proud or first time she's been really proud of the country, so there's no "again" about it.

Good luck trying to make lemonade out of this one.
