I hated the timbre of McCain's voice during his press conference
this a.m. He made his voice deep, and without inflection. It sounded just like Cheney. Yuck. Unfortunately, we know the repug base laps that stuff up, no matter how phony it is. They are in love with "macho" deep voiced males, and so are the corporate media.

There is enough real dirt on this guy to sink him, even without the NYT article. Are we going to use any of it, or just let him get away with this faux deep voiced authoritarian moral high- horse B.S.?

1. You're worried about his cadence?
I thought he wouldn't be able to make it throw the conference without taking a nap.

2. I just found it irritating
I may have to mute the TV every time he appears, as I've done for years with * and dick.

4. I think he was probably angry
and trying to hide it.

5. He almost sounded drugged to me; the monotone was forced imo.
He needed to keep his temper in check.

8. I was thinking he was on tranquilizers to insure he wouldn't blow up.
There was no outrage, no indignation at all - and given his personality and history of emotional outbursts, this did not compute.

7. There's nothing macho about a man who has become the spin-talk express.

11. McCain knows he has a reputation as a hothead, so he uses his "calm voice" to try to hide it.
The real McCain has steam pouring out his ears 90% of the time. He doesn't want the American public to see that, but there's only so long you can wear a mask before it falls off unexpectedly... :)

13. I suppose everyone is right that he was trying to control
his temper, hence the deep voice. I thought he was really trying to channel Cheney. I do admire his service to our country, but he is not doing a good job of distancing himself from this very unpopular administration.:-(

14. All I can say...
is when Cindy was talking about how John would never do anything to hurt his family...and John had that humble smile on his face while she said those words, I hope for his sake that he's telling the truth.

Because if he's not, the man is scum.
