Clinton is a skilled debater, but she didn't make the difference she needed tonight |
|
Each of them had some better moments, but Obama held his own. You could argue who win, but Hillary needed a landslide, and she clearly didn't get it.

17. Sorry...I disagree... |
|
Did she in any way alter the prevailing dialogue? Did she win over any of the Obama supporters in an otherwise deadlocked Texas (where, weeks ago, she was picked to win in a walk) to her side? Seriously? A home run? I guess I need to know what your definition of "hitting it out of the park" is. Or, what "is" is.

Hillary wasn't that bad, but she wasn't as good as he usually is.
And she needed to be better than she usually is. She didn't accomplish that. A good response at the end doesn't change a substandard (by her standards) debate for the other hour and thirty minutes.

9. I don't think she got a landslide |
|
but I think overall she did better... which amazed me.
A few times Obama found his stride and was great, but a lot of the time he seemed to be fumbling for what to say.

15. I agree...and while I appreciate the increase in vocal civility.... |

...I was less than impressed with her body language, which, I felt, indicated a smirking condescension. She can't claim to have any substantive lead in experience over Obama, who has had an impressive career in the U.S. Senate, at the state legislative level and in community activism. What she needed to do, in my book, was atone for past egregious errors and delineate her plan for the future apart from that of Barack, and she didn't deliver. In addition, I found myself counting the opportunities she had to speak first -- and my impression was that she was handed that advantage, along with delivering the closing statement. It's as though CNN was trying to help her back into a race that, as of this morning, she had all but abdicated.

16. He was in command of the facts and issues |
|
He continues to show her to be a liar, and that's how he continues to win. He clearly has solutions, and lots of them, and a longer record than she has. I think that is the little detail her supporters are missing tonight.

19. Hillary did well if she was ahead in the race. But she is not. |

Both Obama and Hillary were excellent. Hillary needed a victory though. She did not get one.
I did enjoy both of their responses.
