Obama did great... until the last question.
I wish he had answered it more directly and not rephrased it, HOWEVER, it seemed like Hillary had a closing response all prepared and that the question seemed artificially tailored for her.

1. That's how I feel...so I don't think any can truly claim victory.

18. I think most people are tired of hearing about Obama being abandoned
by his father at an early age. Especially since he lived a fairly privileged life with his grandparents. Also, what kind of subliminal message is he sending about a black father abandoning his family?

7. There's no way you can witness what she did in that facility and not have it
affect you. I believe that it make her realize her problems weren't on the level of those service men and women - and I think all of us would respond the same.

3. Regardless of whether she was prepared with that statement or not, it WORKED. nt

5. He didn't get a chance for a rebuttal. And Clinton talking wistfully
about the vets in San Antonio; don't forget, she voted for the war, and has a hand in their condition.

6. "I am HONORED to be on the stage with Barack Obama..."
...sounds like she's conceded and wants to be the VP.

12. I thought when she was responding to the question about delegates --
"we'll have a united Democratic party regardless of the results..." or something along those lines -- she was opening the door for a possible exit.

14. Yes, after tonight, I think she finally knows that it is over and it
pushing for the VP spot. I don't think that is going to happen; but I have more faith now that she is going to be classy enough to walk away with dignity and not try more shenanigans.

You could pretty much see finality in her face.

24. I felt bad for her - she seemed sad.... even tougher after everyone said she would win.
Nothing worse than when you think something great is going to happen and it ends up going badly.

I really feel for her and for Bill.

I don't know if it will translate into votes for her, but his ass got kicked on tv tonight.:applause:

10. I agree - he could have reached down and cited a specific example
but she didn't either, so I don't think it was a big deal.

19. You know, that's not really true
She made a perfect indirect reference to her personal trial that the whole world witnessed when her husband cheated on her in the White House. She did not milk it, she did not talk about awkward details regarding it, she handled it gracefully and it was the honest answer to that question and it took real ability for her to answer that question tastefully. The audiance knew exactly what she was referring to, and then she put it into perspective comparing her pain with the greater pain that everyday Americans have had to endure. She was real and it worked.

conciliatory statement by an Obama supporter. :-)

16. Well she knows that many women who cannot stand her
don't because she put up with Bill for political ambition. So she tried to use it as sympathy. It didn't work.

21. really, you don't think she "put up" with Bill because she loves him?
and is willing to forgive? why is it an AUTOMATIC divorce when a spouse stumbles? How does this make someone less of a person? this argument just blows my mind and besides its no ones damn business how two people view their marriage.

What about the mayor of Detroit and his wife accepting his apology. Is she also doing it for sympathy?

13. He talked about a trying time
and told how his personal flaws took him on the path to where he is today. He was honest.

She talked about her husband having an affair with his employee. I guess if that's what gets people feeling sorry for her. Seems silly to me. Although I would agree, compared to that "trying time", everybody else does have more difficulties than her. Maybe if she had been honest about her OWN trying time, we'd have learned something about her.

15. I am reminded of her IWR vote when she talks of those wounded soldiers.
Yes, what she said was very nice and seemed heartfelt, but it just reminded me of the mistake in judgment that help to cause the pain and agony to those soldiers she referenced.

17. Her closing statement was a winner, but...
on the whole, they were very well balanced. I doubt that many minds were changed tonight, and neither one lost any ground. I hope the Spanish broadcast works as well. I'm an Obama supporter, so I think he won. The fact is that neither did any harm. I'm glad to see them turning toward the common enemy, the republicans.
