Can Hillary Win a Debate On A Plagiarized "Close" ? Media Says It Was Her One Good Moment.
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 11:39 PM by K Gardner
It wasn't hers. How ironic is that? She and her camp and her supporters have rammed this down our throats for days now.

How typical that she tries now to save a disastrous debate with a plagiarized line or two. Do we think she had permission from John Edwards to close with his lines? Will she apologize? Will she admit she borrowed, like Obama admitted it?

Will Hillary show the same grace, the same aplomb.. or, as in the middle of the debate, will she continue to show us Sybil?

It is ironic they are running this CLOSE as the DEFINING moment of the debate. I do hope the media pays as much attention to this as they did the Clinton-driven Obama story. They've been duped by the Clinton Machine, once again.

10. Considering that I don't have a candidate
That might be a little bit difficult.
I'm STILL voting for Edwards and have blogged locally as to why that is an attractive option.

I am an Obama supporter, but the media is trying to set her up
They played the same thing with Gore, saying he wasn't agressive enough, and encouraged him to be more agressive, and the minute he did that, they started to rag on him for it

If either Obama or Clinton go to negative they will be screwed

The media is neither candidates friends, they want to create friction, NOT DISCUSS THE REAL ISSUES

11. The media doesn't like Hillary, but the 'plagiarism' backlash is a monster of her own creation.
She originated the charge, stupid and pointless as it was. The media didn't come up with it. She had the chance tonight to repudiate it. She didn't. And now it's clear she's snapped her own trap. This time it's not the media, it's her.

No, it's not just your take. I believe the majority firmly agrees with you.

Thom Hartmann speaks often about the way that news organizations changed after Reagan weakened some FCC regulations and deliberately quit enforcing others, rules that were further eroded in 1996 during Clinton's administration.

Before Reagan news and entertainment divisions were separated. After Reagan, news and entertainment divisions merged and both had to make money. Now Brittany Spears gets all the attention while illegal wiretaps by White House goons are treated like a page 10 story about a skateboarding squirrel.

Back when her husband was first running, she could have gotten away with this. Not now.

It's so ironic: if she hadn't pushed the plagiarism thing, NO ONE would have brought up how she mimicked her husband and John Edwards. It would have been a shining moment. Instead it may be quite the opposite.

17. Unfortunately, the media and the "internets" drove the first plagiarism story to the point
it ended up in the debate as a question, and where Hillary tried awkwardly to bash Obama with it. Ironically, now they're praising her for her POWERFUL Close.. and it wasn't even hers. That's my beef :-)

Thanks for this video.. somebody's on the ball !

21. Politico quoting John Edwards 13 December 2007 debate
An echo from Hillary

Several readers, and Obama's staff, heard an echo in Clinton's closing line, that the candidates on stage would be "fine."

Clinton Tonight:

You know, whatever happens, we're going to be fine. You know, we have strong support from our families and our friends. I just hope that we'll be able to say the same thing about the American people. And that's what this election should be about.?

Edwards the December 13 debate:

What's not at stake are any of us. All of us are going to be just fine no matter what happens in this election. But what's at stake is whether America is going to be fine.?

29. It was just the very first initial remarks, angelc.. the first hour of
coverage on MSNBC devoted quite a bit of space to gushing over it. I'm hoping by tomorrow the coverage will be reframed, because you know this copy video is going to make the rounds. :hi:

I agree that this past hour, the coverage has been much more even-handed and very good for Obama.

Technically it was original. If you parse and split hairs you can get away with a lot.
