Directly after a debate, listen to the media on radio/tv to hear/see the bias
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 12:03 AM by andym
It's very instructive to listen to the news media report on any political event to ascertain the bias.

Driving at 8:30pm, I heard the news roundup on KCBS radio in San Francisco. The headline was that one of the candidates sounded like she was making a concession speech at the end. Note how it fits into the campaign as a horse race. They also had the audio clip of the the "xerox" line and that it was greeted by some boos. They then described very briefly that the candidates debated health care and the Iraq war and that the second half of the debate was more exciting than the first.

I was surprised at this summary of the debate, and think that it might be very useful for you to turn on the radio/TV and listen to how the news services are reporting.

You might like to report what you hear or see in this thread.

1. Agreed!
The comments on CNN were amazing. It was like they saw a different debate.

2. I've had TV on, and there are many threads all over DU.
The debate has been over for hours, but if you want my opinion, Obama rocked, and Clinton did sound conciliatory and didn't attack much. She's honored to be with Barack Obama. Surprising. and :wtf:

8. I thought that comment was only because she KNEW she screwed up
on the xerox comment.

She wanted to look like the nice, safe, friendly candidate at the end.

10. But do you think she's caving, or listening to the currently preferred
advisors who have done her so wrong?

16. Who the hell knows?
Her candidacy is a trainwreck.

I am more annoyed with her tonight than I have ever been.

12. Me too
I suppose if you agree with Hillary on health care and Cuba, you might have thought she had a great debate. But I don't think she is right on those issues so I think she came off combative, particularly on health care. It was fine that she said it was really important, I appreciated that. But otherwise, it was the same thing I've heard for months so I don't know why she felt it necessary to get like that. He answered every question she has ever thrown at him, clearly and concisely. I thought he did great and swayed anybody who was waivering over substance.

3. Another political assassination by the M$M.
Pretty clear who they are told to X, and who they are told to help idolize.

HRC's vote for IWR has always sickened me and Obama simply does not impress me. I will, however, support any Dem nominee over any repuke, ANY day.

15. What I've been seeing occur is far from my first choice.
I see total manipulation throughout this election process by the corporate-owned media.

I see what the media wants me to see, and I see through it.

19. And you hear what you want to hear; said the Rock Man.
The Point (1971)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067595/

An animated story of an unusual kingdom in which everything and everybody is pointed - except for a young boy named Oblio...Despite his round head, Oblio has many friends. But an evil count, jealous that Oblio is more popular than his own son, says that without a pointed head, Oblio is an outlaw. Along with his faithful dog Arrow, Oblio is exiled to the Pointless Forest. There, he has many fantastic experiences (including encounters with a 3-headed man, giant bees, a tree in the leaf-selling business, and a good-humored old rock). From his adventures, Oblio learns that it is not at all necessary to be pointed to have a point in life. Music composed and performed by Harry Nilsson ("Me and My Arrow"), who also wrote the story. Written by alfiehitchie

Oblio defeats an evil lord’s son...

"You see what you want to see, ...

"and you hear what you what to hear..."

Check it out. ;)
