Thankfully, both candidates brought up "clean green" jobs and other substantive issues (hooray for them both!) but the PROS spent too much time on "plagiarism" and "you said candidate x sux, care to expand?" type questions.

With oil over $100 per barrel, Pakistan, Belgrade, FISA, FEMA, Lobbyist influence, net neutrality, domestic spying, port security, and dozens of other concerns, both foreign and domestic....and we get to talk about fluff about half the time allowed.

And here on GDP, we have childish tit for tat threads filling the place up.
Have all the adults left the building, and those that are left have devolved into idiots?

I would say, yes.

Sadly, yes.

Ah, well. Good luck to both of our candidates.
May we prevail in November!

1. They tend to agree on most of those issues, hard to have a debate when everyone agrees

2. Perhaps they agree on what do about Musharef not stepping down, I don't know.
And dozens of other things.
We would never know - if not on their respective policy papers - and those who learn from TV debates get to see the catfight questions.

As to DU, a "candidate X ROCKS!" post gets hundreds of responses, and is evidence that the DUers who are still hear are more interested in fighting, and that all the adults have left the building.
Just pointing out the obvious, I know.
They (we) have been chased out by the berserkers on both sides, playing their games - just checking to see if any good ones were around tonight.

This thread will sink quickly, and the lord of the flies drama will prevail until some future time.

Thanks for putting in your POV, johnny_Motown, I appreciate it. :hi:

4. I tend to agree with that. this is not exactly a think tank.
It is mostly bumper sticker posts made by people caught up in the moment

As for foreign policy questions, they should have already been addressed in town hall meetings by now. If they have not been then it would seem that the majority of the electorate does not care about it or simply is unable to understand it.

I feel your pain, but if you are looking for any higher brain function posts then coming here right after a debate may have been a mistake.

as for my POV, thanks for taking the time to read it. I am sure most people don't.

Good luck to you, have a nice night

5. We agree, and sometimes there are higher brained ones here - I use posts like these to find them.
GDP used to be a decent place to discuss primary issues, but has been devolving for months.
I was just half-heartedly checking in to see if any of them were lurking.

Thanks for being here, Johnny_M, maybe after we have a nom, we can discuss strategies and tactics on how to beat the GOP.

I look forward to having discussions with smart people such as yourself.
Till then.

3. Agreed
I think your post is probably the best post of the night. I also think the debate could have used a moderator who knew how to moderate.

8. Please stick around after the battles wear down, malletgirl02.
This place gets trashed by hard core idiots every season, but in between there are some good people.
Right now, even the sane ones are acting like 10 yr olds.

This one has been so bad, largely because of deep psychological undertones of race and gender identity, and personality differences (and because the policy differences are so minute)--we have lost most of the smartest because, well, we get tired of the stupidity and rudeness. I just thought to check in for a few minutes, and see who might pop in.

The last two CNN debates were sponsored by coal industries. No environmental or energy questions.
Corporate influence? Of course.
But not as important as plagiarism. or who "knocked out" whom. ;)

6. Great Points...
Too bad they don't watch the news at CNN, we sure needed to hear the same questions for the 452nd time.

7. They tried to help their candidate Hillary
The Clinton News Network gave her all the questions to beat up Barack with and it didn't work

10. I miss the League of Women Voters debates....
Back in the day before Corporate News take over, the League of Women Voters knew how to put on debates.

Those were the days. Instead we get Taterhead Russert, Brian Fathead Williams, just to mention a couple who's main objective is to play gottya games with their questions.

I wish we could have Town Hall debates/discussions where the American People get to ask the candidates questions, instead of the NewSpundits.

But alas, I don't suppose that would ever happen.

You raise a lot of valid issues concerning what topics are discussed and most of them have little to do with what we can do as a nation.
And now a days the debates are sponsored by the Coal Industries and other Industries that don't want these kind of questions asked much less answered.

Thank you for a very thoughtful post. It sure beats the other childish posts I've seen tonight.
