Is it just me or did Hillary suddenly get old tonight...
Mind you, she is not that much older than I am...

But it seems as if she was speaking from another time and another place...

I don't know...

It really is, I believe, a realigning election, a real time of change in the country...

I have lived through one...

This one seems to have a real sense of a bubble up phenomena instead of the trickle down approach that has infested DC since Ronnie took up the economic part of the deal...

It's late, I have been doing taxes and political campaign finance reports since this morning...

Took time out to watch the debate with Mrs. WCGreen while we ate hot dogs and beans...

I enjoyed this one...

There was a sense of unity in the air, a sense that the party was coming together...

I like that the primaries have lasted this long...

It's good for the party in the long run...

It's good for the country as well...

3. I think it finally hit her tonight
The bit at the end, and then later @ the Democratic headquarters, something's changed with her.

8. On CNN, after the debate
She spoke @ the Democratic headquarters in Austin. She didn't cry but it seemed to me she was was putting on a brave face. And no, I am not going to slam her for that. I have never slammed her for having emotions.

I don't know if CNN will replay the bit.

27. Andrea Mitchell
said something has changed. She said Hillary was on the TODAY show this morning and she said something to the effect that they would see how things go but she did not say they were going to go ahead to all the states like she has said in the past.

Spot-on these primaries have been a wonderful thing for our country. Millions have had a chance to get involved and feel like they counted.

7. The political process has taken a beating over the last thirty
or so years...

Constant harping about politics as usual and then the people harping the most turn out to be dirtier than thou...

It's really stunning to me that the Republican party or the right wing has any juice at all...

I really think this election is going to produce 1964 like results...

If the turnout so far continues through the GE though we look good to go for years to come. Our base expanded exponentially this time around there is no denying it.

9. Yep, it's just you! Ithought sh did a good job tonight. Not great
enough to push Barack of the lead, but still good.

I also notices Barack looking disintersted and not really wanting to be there when Hillary was speaking. I hven't seen nyone else mention that, and I'm a bit suprised. Did you watch him? I voted for him on Super Tuesday, but I wasn't peased with his performance tonight.

17. She looks like a 60-year old woman.
And mind you, 60 is not old. I know it SEEMS ancient to someone who is 20-something, but really, it's not.

I'm 60, and I remember thinking my mom, who was 35 when I was born, was decrepit. She wasn't, even though 60 today isn't the same as it was a generation ago.

I think Hillary looks great; she has a wonderful smile. Those wrinkles are badges of honor. And many 30 year olds envy her energy.

19. I didn't get that from her.
Bill on the other hand has not looked the same since his operation a few years back. I hope he slows down a bit...just for his sake.

Senator Clinton I felt looked fine and quite Presidential. So did Senator Obama. That last part when she reached out to him felt genuine to me. Senator Clinton is a tough person and a great politician. I think that America is seeking someone who is less of a politician at this time. That political savvy and her experience may perhaps be a weakness. It is when she softens from the politician to the caring woman that she makes the best gains...at least that is what I am noticing tonight. Remember when she softened to the point of almost crying for America earlier on in the campaign? Many feel that this is what got her the New Hampshire undecideds.

I think she did well at last night's debate, I think when she softened at the end, she may have increased her odds for a comeback. At this point though, I do not think it will be enough to stop the groundswell currently rallying around Senator Obama. I predict against the pundents and the poll takers, that Senator Obama will take Texas and Ohio on his way to the White House. I further predict that Senator Obama will beat Senator mCcain by a landslide, one which will make America quite pleased indeed.

I have been very critical of Obama over the past few weeks...

I have hardly said anything about HRC...

I put that comparison in there to connect her to the style of her campaign...

apparently, picking up on subtly is not one of your skills...

28. No, she showed wisdom and experience
and I do agree about the message of "re-alignment". She spoke of how the country and the economy got off track from the Clinton years and all we have to do is get it back on track.

I agree with Hillary, there's no need to reinvent the wheel with someone who is untried and inexperienced. This is a time for experience.

29. Squirming in her chair...
What I found interesting was the fact that Hillary was literally squirming in her chair when Obama was talking about her vote on the Iraq war. And as far as her inspirational (borrowed) closing statetment goes: perhaps if she had shown some leadership and stood up to Bush in the buildup to the Iraq war, she would not have had to witness the wounded soldiers that she found so inspiring.

31. I think more than anything it's that she's becoming resigned
To the fact that she's not going to get the nomination. Thus she has relaxed a bit, become looser and less careful about parsing every little thing that she says. She's seeing the writing on the wall, and while she will carry on until Texas and Ohio, unless she gets a miracle in those two states I wouldn't be surprised to see her drop out the following Wednesday.

34. I kind of got that feeling, too.
At one point, I just felt like she was old news, while Obama was fresh. Like she was 'been there, done that,' while he seemed to offer something new. It was just an intuitive flash, can't base it on anything logical or scientific.

38. It fits in with the Pendulum Theory
I think we go through massive swings of the pendulum every few decades.

One frame of thought becomes domonant and becomes the power. Eventually, the theory of entropy kicks in, and that frame deteriorates. Then reaction against it builds to a critical mass, and the pendulum swings again.

Ronnie was the last swing of the pendulum to the right. Now, finally, the gears of the pendulum are becoming unstuck and it is in the process of making a swing to the left.
