If Obama supporters think by Hillary's closing comments that she's thinking of quitting |
|
and that "she knows it's over", then you all might be setting yourselves up for a major disappointment.
IMO, Hillary's closing comments were a hugely successful attempt by her to increase her "likability" among undecided voters. I think she still has plenty of confidence in her campaign and is no where close to thinking she can't win. I think her closing comments were planned in a very clever way to pull at the strings of the voters in a favorable manner for her.
You and I have made up our minds, but Hillary is counting on hundreds of thousands of voters coming out of that debate saying to themselves, "You know something?....Hillary Clinton is not as bad a person as I've heard she is. I always knew she was competent, but now I kind of like her, too."

3. if she's not thinking of quitting, just like she had no plan-b.... |
|
...she is hurting her chances
of course she is thinking of dropping out. if they don't have a plan they are totally mismanaging that campaign. doesn't mean she's going to, and i think she's going to stick aorund for OH and TX, but at some point the writing IS going to be on the wall. her future ability to run for president, and the clinton legacy is going to be on the line. she needs to think about conceding.

Thank you to her husband & John Edwards for those closing comments.
Geez, if you're going to bring up a hint of plagerism, perhaps you should make sure that what comes out of your mouth is your own. The Xerox line follwed 20 minutes later by that closing that turns out to be cut from 2 other politicians really isn't going to win her many votes.

It was all contrived. I saw thru that like I saw thru the run up to the Iraq crap.
I am hoping that the American people are beginning to wise up to this kind of BS.

Calculated. It fooled me last night, then I woke up this morning and heard her florida ploy restated all over again and swung back to reality.
She may not know its over yet but she is about to get a reality check. The question now becomes will she save face at all and gracefully bow out or will she go down flailing wildly forever tarnishing her legacy.

14. More people would like her if they would take the time to |
|
listen to her and watch her. I did. I wasn't even considering her because of the 'hate Hillary' rhetoric, but the more I listened and watched her interact with people the more I grew to have respect for her. She doesn't have to do this, but she feels she can make a difference and I think she can. Someone on another thread however said white males won't vote for her, and I know my grandson said the guys he works with said they would never vote for a woman. That says alot when considering many have daughters. Do you think they would want their daughters to be refused a job because she's female?

it's becoming glaringly apparent that some of the Obama supporters' perception of things is so vastly different from my own, that I have to disregard their opinions for the time being. I think it's bizarre, but I wasn't here in 04' so maybe it's just typical DU partisanship.

22. You have your way of viewing it, others have their way of viewing |
|
Personally I saw it as Hillary's acknowledgment that she's got a real tough climb to get the nomination, which she does. She has to pull out each and every state from here on out by sixty percent or more. If she loses Texas and/or Ohio, you might as well stick a fork in her, she's done. I think that her statements were an acknowledgment of this fact and that she was showing that she was, unlike many of her supporters, in touch with the reality of the situation.
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see her get out of the race after Texas and Ohio. Her campaign is in debt, and unless she pulls a miracle off in both of those states she will be facing very long odds.

I didn't think her closing remark sounded like a concession at all.
In fact, I would swear I heard her make similar comment as a response to the reporter (Katie Couric, I think) on 60 minutes a few weeks ago. I could be wrong about this but I thought Couric asked her what would happen if she didn't win and Clinton's response was along the lines of what she said last night.

My mom saw it as a concession, but I thought it was a strategic move designed to increase likeability. I think her tactics have turned a number of people off, and by making it look like she will bow out graciously if the time comes, she was able to tug at people's heartstrings and make them realize maybe that's not the outcome they want. Kind of like the way so many people were sad to see Edwards drop out, even those who weren't supporting him.
It worked on me...I am pretty passionate about supporting Obama, but Clinton last night made me feel like I'd be sad to see her drop out.
Your observations are dead on, and I am glad you said it, because I was afraid that as an Obama supporter, I'd come off wrong if I pointed out my theory on what her motive was.
