PHOTOS: Can McCain complain about smears when he did this to last guy to smear him in a prez race?

In 2000, the Bush campaign used all of these smears on McCain.

• Push polls in the South accusing him of having an illegitimate black child
  
  
• Calling his wife a drug addict
  
  
• Saying McCain's time as a POW in Vietnam may have made him a Manchurian candidate
  

Is this NY Times story really unforgivable by comparison?

Are Democrats even capable of stooping so low in the general election? I doubt it.

But the Republicans will cry about any personal attacks or even policy criticism and expect people won't remember that they embraced someone who didn't fling mud but his own diseased feces.

When will Democrats start calling them on this profound double standard, or rework the GOP flip flop commercial?

1. All things are fair in war and politics...I don't subscribe to that...

but it is a reality.

McCain is a dud. Just let him keep talking, with each breath, he digs his own grave. Personally, I hope bush takes a stand for him...that should be the 10 ton anchor that drags him to the bottom of the sea.
