"I Refuse To Buy Into the Obama Hype," (misleading title warning) a review of senate terms
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 03:43 PM by I Vote In Pittsburgh
I apologize if this has been posted before (couldn't find it), but it is such an excellent examination of both candidates. It would be a shame for anyone to miss out. Yes, it comes from DailyKos, but please don't let that prevent you from taking a look at this examination, which compliments both candidates. Excerpt:

The next President is going to have some MAJOR challenges.
I refuse to buy into the hype, on either side, but especially on that of Obama. However the "empty rhetoric" v. "history of accomplishments" arguments have prompted me to check it out on my own, not relying on any candidate's website, book, or worst of all supporters' diaries, like this one.

I went to the Library of Congress Website. The FACTS of what each did in the Senate last year sure surprised me. I'm sure they will surprise you, too. Whether you love or hate Hillary, you will be surprised. Whether you think Obama is the second coming of JFK or an inexperienced lightweight, you will surprised. Go check out the Library of Congress Website. After spending some time there, it will be clear that there is really only one candidate would is ready to be the next president, even better than Gore. If you don't want to spend an hour or two doing research, then I'll tell you what I discovered on the jump.

1. I appreciate the link thank you
But I find the comparison with JFK humorous

which legislator had the better record JFK or LBJ

and which was the better president.

They are different skill sets and just because you are the better legislator (in this case the article argues for Obama) it is not an indication of being a great president.

Moreover having worked in the state legislature it is very deceptive who is really effective and who is not. Some people get their names on a lot of bills but are not the ones getting people together and working out compromises.

I would have asked Chris Matthews to list 3 of JFK's legislative accomplishments.

2. Point taken
And thanks for your insight from working in a state legislature. However, this does not mean we should ignore legislative records, and the article writer does a good job of thinking about them. For example, if you have no cosponsors for your most important bill (health care), and tout that bill as proving your experience, it means something.
