My republican friend from Texas just told me he will be voting for Obama
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 12:13 AM by AGirl
So i said to him "well, i guess you are okay with abortion now"

He said well, "if the people want choices, he can't do anything about it"

So i said, "so if the "Movement" is against choice, he would overturn Roe vs Wade."

He said "yes, i think he would."

I was like "wow."

84. HI!!!
 :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Now get the hell out of here. Fast! You're too pure of heart and soul to be in this place. It's vile. Vile I tell you!

Damn. It was so nice to see a friendly face that I knew was honest I over reacted.

Seriously, no one here wants to listen to reason. All Texans are only voting for Obama 'cause they hate Hillary. The fact that the crossover vote in MI was an insignificant fraction and divided between both Hillary and Obama still means they're voting for Obama because they hate Hillary.

Run. Please, save yourself. It's too late for me, they've already eaten my brain (I think I heard something about a fava beans and a nice Chianti. Which shows how tacky they are since it should have been eggs and Mimosas). Just save yourself before it's too late!!

:hi: :D

6. the GOP has never hid their plan to take out Hillary so as to have the "easy"BO via Demprimary votes
we will now see if they were right.

Your friend is in a party where the nom is decided - no point not helping the cause via a vote in the Dem primary.

Your friend will be voting for McCain in the fall.

E-mail to send to all your Republican friends
Sat, 02/16/2008 - 10:41pm
Attention All Texas Republicans and Independents!!
On March 4th, Texas Republicans and Independents will have an opportunity to end Hillary Clinton’s (and Bill’s) presidential ambitions once and for all!
Since Texas has on open primary, Republicans and Independents should sign in at their polling place and request a Democratic ballot. They should then vote for Barack Obama. Even James Carville admits that if Hillary loses Texas, “she’s done!” Republicans can help make this a reality!!! Just think, no more Clintons in the White House!
Voting Democratic this one time will have NO effect on your ability to vote in the next Republican primary or obviously on your vote in November. Since John McCain has the Republican nomination locked up, voting for McCain or Huckabee at this point will have no effect on the outcome on the Republican side.
After you vote during early voting or on March 4th, you ARE NOT done! Report back to your regular polling place at 7PM on March 4th to sign the Barack Obama list for caucus delegates. In a little known Texas voting quirk, 67 delegates to the Democratic convention will be seated because of these caucuses. This is a full one-third of the total number of Texas delegates. For Hillary to lose, she has to lose the primary votes AND the caucus votes. I urge you to vote against Hillary Clinton by voting for Barack Obama.
Please forward this e-mail to all your Republican and Independent friends so that we can help ensure the Clinton’s defeat on March 4th!!!

WANNA BECOME AN OBAMACRAT?!!!
By Obama Florida 2008
Published: April 24, 2007
….
That’s why “Democrat for a Day” was launched this spring by ObamaFlorida2008. Using the official forms provided by all Supervisors of Elections offices, you may re-register as a Democrat for that one day — when the primary is likely to be held — on February 5, 2008. You must do so before the end of 2007, to make sure it is done 30 days before the primary.
But this is not about some “hard sell” to recruit voters to become permanent Democrats. Not at all. After the primary, you may re-register back to the Republican or Libertarian parties, or revert to your previous status as an Independent! There will be plenty of time before the general election in November 2008.
….
But we’re finding that up to 20 percent of Obama supporters are registered Republicans.
In fact, during the first couple of weeks in April, some 150 Republicans indeed became “Democrats for a Day.” You might call them “Obamacrats!”

Obama Flyer in Nevada:

A flyer was distributed in Nevada by an Obama precinct captain, similar to the above Florida page - http://www.taylormarsh.com/archives_view.php?id=26826

Similar efforts:

Dick Morris’ explicit instructions to Republicans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt_jnhsyqg0

Obama’s Democrat for a Day training video: http://www . youtube.com/watch?v=JUE4Kp0YERs

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on 2-19-2008 also talked about Republicans having "some fun" voting for Obama:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23255694 /
MATTHEWS: Let me talk to you. Let me go right now, Ron, is that your theory, that—well, it‘s mine, too—that if you can vote if you‘re a moderate or independent voter or you‘re a Republican who doesn‘t think it‘s important to vote on the Republican side, since it‘s locked up for McCain, have some fun and vote for somebody you have sort of an interest in, Barack Obama, perhaps?

More leads
-- we need to collect evidence of GOP crossover in many different locales, so that the superdelegates in each locale will understand where Obama's 'popular' vote is coming from

C'mon, this is a weak, weak, weak argument.

Your "friend" makes a claim that YOU lead him to and then you post it here like it's some reflection on Barack. It's not. It's a reflection on you and your friend.

90. Was that the same plan where they were salivating over the chance
to go up against Clinton again? Or was it a different plan? I'm so confused by all of their plans. Maybe it was the PNAC plan where they explained why they needed to let those nice Saudi boys blow up the WTC in order to get their war on.

19. Sounds like some of my relatives.
I also have others who wanted Clinton, but if she isn't our candidate they will vote for McCain...damn them...they have no sense or loyalty to the Dem party.

I ask them...what about the SCJs and they just don't seem to care. I don't think a lot of people realize how important they are. When I ask how they can support some of McCain's policies...they (specifically my son) say he's just leaning to the right to get the nomination. Once he's in he'll take the middle of the road and put in moderate SCJ's and won't be so pro war because he's a maverick. He honestly believes that and so does his wife. She used to be an Edwards supporter but switched to Hillary rather early in the campaign...but refuses to support Obama.

I'm going to have to think about that. I see Hill supporters all the time talking about all their Republican friends.

Is it like James Carville, long time Hill insider begging the judge for leniency for Scooter Libby? He has Republican friends.

Where do you meet these people and how do you and they become friends? Why do you and they become friends?

25. Which is it?
Three weeks ago, the attack was "Obama's a closet Republican"

this past week, all kinds of posts about how he'll be portrayed as "too liberal"...

Now.... "closet Republican" again.

Pick a tack and stick with it, Hillbots. Is he too conservative or too liberal? Pick one.

46. I guess Hillary's endorsements from Coulter, Limbaugh, Beck, etc haven't worked on your friend
Go over to FreepLand and you will see many Republicans talking about voting for Hillary because they think she is the easiest to beat. About 95% of the general election polls back that assessment up.

63. "Think" seems to be what your friend
doesn't do much of, if he "thinks" Obama is anti-choice. If he wants to use his vote on Obama though more power to him. He'll find out though when Obama becomes prez that he was wrong on Obama's stand.

64. Obama can make bridges between groups, and convince others
of a different way. I really don't know what is more effective than that. All Hillary does is turn people into slavering zombie worshippers or white-hot hate filled freaks.

86. Here's the problem with the assumption about Texas crossover voting
Huckabee is popular with the religious Right here. Really popular. I mean, really, REALLY popular. You guys remember that fanatical religions right in Texas, don't you? The same ones that you're always bemoaning and tossing in the face of we Texas Democrats as if we have some control over them?

Even though Huck's dead in the water and he's still polling at 30%. Why? Because Texas Republicans are stupid. They think McCain is against guns and God. Nope, I'm not kidding you. All I keep hearing from their ilk is McCain is pro-stem cell and he's pro gun regulation. They keep asking me if I'm voting or McCain. It's driving me INSANE!

This is the only time I've ever been glad they're as fanatical as they are, their numbers will help keep crossover voting down and in the end help validate whoever wins Texas. When it's over we'll see how the numbers figure out. However, if the Huckster has a decent showing you can assume it's because stupidity prevailed among Texas Republicans. *shocked expression* If they don't, then begin the speculation about crossover due to hate and/or bigotry, or whatever you feel like blaming it on.

89. Many people vote for who they like and rationalize the reasons.
How many times have we all heard somebody say, "I vote for the person, not the party" like it is some admirable thing? (when really, it means, "I vote based on who I like rather than on issues.")
