Okay I have a question, re: Hillary and women's voting?
I have read many posts over the past weeks and months about how women should vote for Hillary. How it just isn't in line with women's advancement for us to vote for a man when a viable woman is running.

So I ask you all, if Condi Rice had won the nomination for president on the republican ticket, which many thought she might, and Obama was the democratic ticket (let's assume Hillary didn't run), would you still rant about "progressive women should vote for the woman candidate"?

Just curious.

3. What about African Americans voting for Condi as the first African American president?
If we're talking hypotheticals.

I also don't know what MANY posts you're talking about. All I read is women posting about how they refuse to vote for Clinton just because she's a woman.

4. Bingo
Why not run Condi? She'd kill all the birds with one stone. Get the AA and woman vote, plus the rethugs. How could we lose? ;-)

5. Just sincerely curious, not trying to flame...
I have read quite a few posts suggest that by not voting for Hillary, we are hurting the women's movement. Yes, many have said tough tarts about that, but I have read quite a few. So I was just wondering if those same women would think it was contrary to the womens movement to vote for a Dem man over a Repuke woman.

6. The answer is in your post already
Condi is not viable...nor is any other republican woman compared to a democrat.

It is pretty obvious.

7. Are you also curious about African Americans
voting for Obama because he is African American?

9. Nope, you're a racist if you question his African American support.
Read it first on this forum, so it must be true.

10. Oh yes, you are right. Of course...
But if you support Hillary and you are a woman then you are only supporting her because she is a woman.

13. The reason I used Condi in example is because it negates the race issue.

8. And, what did you think of Michelle Obama's "Black America will wake up".
Her memo seems to have been successful, with 90% voting in a block.

"I have read many posts over the past weeks and months about how women should vote for Hillary. How it just isn't in line with women's advancement for us to vote for a man when a viable woman is running."

I don't think that's allowed in progressiveboyblogs. Excited, glowing women are usually of a sexual nature, not of empowerment.

14. Yes, it was/is serious question to sort of nudge some of the
"women should be voting for a woman" folks to think about how far their POv was valid. I totally think that women have gained the rights to vote for whomever they think is the best candidate regardless of sex. So I was watching one of the newsy primetime shows wherein a feminist mother and daughter were discussing their split in viewpoints; mother for Hillary and thinks women should vote for a woman and Obama should wait 8 years, and daughter for Obama thinking women shouldn't vote solely based on sex.

Then I began wondering what it would take for the mother to abandon her POV regarding women for woman; and Condi came to mind because of the obvious republican issue, but also because Condi's being black and Obama being black would also take out the issue of race and essentially neutralize it.
