Rep. Charlie Rangel criticizes Clinton on Xerox slam
February 23, 2008

Rep. Charlie Rangel, who was once among Hillary Clinton's staunchest supporters but has been a bit off-script lately, told NY1's Dominic Carter last night that her Xerox slam on Barack Obama during Thursday's Texas debate went over like a "lead balloon."

In fact, Rangel doesn't appear to be a big fan of the whole plagiarism line of attack from the Clinton campaign, period.

"You don’t raise it unless you have a winner, and that line that she had about Xerox actually was a lead balloon," Rangel said. "It didn’t get off the ground…One of the professionals is the governor of Massachusetts feeding him lines that are great. Someone fed her a line that didn’t work. That’s all.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This Rangel criticism of Clinton comes on the heels of his comment last weekend in Albany that the people - not superdelegates - would choose the Democratic nominee.

2. Rangel puzzles me...

in general. like pressing the military draft issue (I know this was supposedly to force the issue on Iraq but it's
still insane)

5. the draft issue - it's actually not insane, it's a principled stand
That many people don't agree with (apparently including you).

It's courageous for him to keep bringing it up even though it will go nowhere. Even if to keep the reminder in that the vast majority of "Americans" can't be bothered to serve their country unless coerced to.

6. That was my immediate thought
He may stick with her publicly but work behind the scenes in some way for Obama. Like these little comments of his.

8. Maybe his wife has been having an effect on him. Also, he's not
happy about Clinton and the superdelegate issue, nor is Schumer.
