"This is wonderful!"

2. I hope he doesn't regret his decision
I still regret his decision. It's almost certain that he'll never be president, and that's a great loss to America and the world.

13. Obama had the money backers before he even declared
At that point in the race, Gore was still being asked to run. Obama would not have jumped out just because Gore jumped in. Michelle put it better, if not now, it's never.

7. I;m sure that Gore is thankful that he didn't get in to catch the hell that
Billary is inflicting in their scorched-earth, win at all costs strategy.

9. I think he probably has a few things running across his mind.
I think what you said, MUST be on his mind, and what the first poster said too. If iirc, he had three meetings in the past 12 days that highlighted a concern regarding delegate/super delegates, the convention and our party itself.

Am I correct that both candidates will be going into the convention without enough delegates to win? The super-delegates will actually be deciding who our nominee is? I don't understand everything about delegates/super delegates so pardon if naive. If this is correct, I have serious worries. We've been robbed twenty ways to Tuesday and if mostly political figures are picking our candidate, I don't know if I have the faith in them that they will go with who the people said they want. Imagine the split in this party if they chose Hillary and if she lost OH and PA?

I wonder how people couldn't take this to the streets, let alone not vote in the GE! Our party would be in serious danger of losing this GE if the s.delegates chose against the popular vote. I think thats why a couple of articles came out floating out a second ballot scenario. Could I imagine the worst thing happening and us actually HAVING a plan B that would effectively bring this party back together.. aka "doing the right thing" when something horrible happens?! Hardly, but that's all I've got to hold on to, if this nightmare scenario unfolded.

Personally, I am not sure who I would want in the WH. I don't know which candidate I believe or better said; I don't know if I believe either candidate means what they say with "some" things. I am more comfortable with Hillary in that she is a brilliant woman and knows the ins and outs of this govt in her sleep. I think a lesser known Obama could give us more than we dared to hope but it's not definitive enough so I am less comfortable. Sometimes unknowns can be a blessing and be just what we needed, so I can't be "sure" he isn't the right choice. Their policies are close enough for my comfort level, and in the differences in policies; I like some of his ideas over hers and some of her ideas over his. Either way whichever candidate won the PEOPLE'S vote, I'd back.

With all the above mixed feelings I STILL am tormented with, (which sucks for me)... what I do know is:

Obama was dead on when he stated the super-delegates ought to go with the peoples majority. I'm also sure that if in fact these meetings took place, designed to discuss this situation, and Al was there, we have someone who sat at the table who spoke for the people. That is assuring.

10. You are correct about the super delegates....
neither candidate can without super delegates. With that said, it depends on who view the purpose of super delegates. They were designed as a safeguard mechanism to overtun the popular vote, if the popular vote nominated someone who is either non-electable from winning the election, and to keep out people who do not fall in line with the Democratic ideology. Polling shows that Obama is electable, and no one can claim Obama to be outside the party ideology.

That's a relief. If people turn, they're gonna turn hard.

22. I don't see it happening. The only way he could lose this election is if....
the party insiders turn on him and refuse to unite. This will be the true test of Hillary's character. If she backs Obama, she can come off looking like a hero, especially if she goes on the campaign trail for him. If she refuses to help him, and then comes back later and says "I told you so" I will be convinced that she wasn't the right choice either.

11. Please, Al didn't speak for the people when he ran in 2000.
He did not fight. You can be angry about HRC running but one thing is for sure, she is a fighter. I think Obama is a fighter too. That's why Dems are in good position.

26. your POV
about Al is just that, yours. I have mine. Why you think I'm angry HC is running is weird. Maybe I said something that could interpreted another way, or maybe you misunderstood something I did say. What made you think that?

15. Well, only one Democrat can be President at a time- at the very most!
I am appreciative of what Gore is doing on the global warming front. There are other Dems, such as Howard Dean that are doing our party a great service also. There are plenty of seats at the Democratic table that need to be filled by leaders for the next administration- I know that won't be a problem, given the depth of great people in the Democratic Party!

20. I think he must get some satisfaction out of seeing her campaign flounder.
The Clintons didn't really help him out during his own run. Further, they didn't really help the party by sitting on the sidelines during Kerry's run.

27. ! Exactly

That's why he has stated he has talked to both of them and is on good terms with both of them. The fact that he didn't endorse also sends the message he does not favor one over the other and can be objective in assessing issues over hype, especially regarding the environment, which they both need to do better with. I respect him greatly for that and agree with you Blue State Native. He is not a petty, immature, vindictive man. Some here could learn from him about that.
