Will either one of them kill NAFTA?
I bet not. It makes all this talk of "outsourcing" rather shallow IMHO. They both are playing word games. Neither is talking about doing what it takes to get Americans decent wages inside America.

2. I doubt that, but I do think they can make it less attractive to
move operations and jobs outside of the country. They can tax the corps that
move production outside the country and outsource jobs.

3. I Agree...
They "can" tax the corps that move production outside the country and outsource jobs.

5. If they do that then those corps will
withdraw from the US completely, shrinking the business tax base even more, which will cause existing businesses to start outsourcing and pulling out, deepening the problem.

I'm not saying reduce the taxes on corporations, but I don't know what the answer is, because I don't think you can just cancel NAFTA and see an automatic upturn in jobs coming back, either.

Maybe a phased-in termination of NAFTA agreements, with the promise of a five year tax break to companies that decide they want to bring jobs back in to the country.

But I don't know what the answer is, to be quite honest.

6. No. Obama's chief financial advisor is a DLC hack and Clinton is on the DLC leadership team.
Slim pickings for the Democrats this cycle, IMO.

7. "It takes a village (I mean Congress)" to kill a bill....
NAFTA is here to stay. BUT what was the big problem about NAFTA was not its mere existence. It was that it had no wage provisions or more importantly, no environmental provisions.

Those parts of NAFTA could be fixed, I would think. That would still be a trade agreement, but a fair and balanced one. And not as many companies would go there, since they would still have to put in environmental safeguards.
