And, what was the horrific 'attack' on Obama launched by Smiley:

"I think it's a missed opportunity on Mr. Obama's part," Smiley told CNN. "Now, I am not interested in demonizing him for his choice, but I do disagree with it."

Intelligent but always interested in self promotion and has irritated a number of people because he seems to have appointed himself as "independent African American voice' and yet has a lot of commercial tie ins with huge companies trying to ausage their previous neglect . . . for example Walmart.

5. Yes...he has mentioned on Tom Joyner's show that he's gotten death threats and really outrageous

emails.

All because he has had the mere audacity to remind Black America that after we fall in love, we still need to remember to hold people accountable. He's simply been trying to make the point that after you fall in love with someone, you still have to remember to hold that person accountable.

And people have been going off on him. For example, listeners of the Tom Joyner Morning Show have been calling in and absolutely berating him.

One morning, right after one of Tavis' commentaries, a woman called in and said Tavis "just needs to leave us alone." (Meaning, "us" in Black America) and needs to just find his white woman to marry and go off somewhere.

Tavis also said people have emailed him and asked him how much money the Clintons are paying him.

It's been ugly.

And frankly, I am downright disgusted by the actions of some in my own community.

Since when did accountability become a dirty word?

I thought we had always been about accountability?

all the time---that it's not about him...it's about Black America

For example...during one of his recent commentaries, when people were taking him to task for his accountability comments, he said "We planned for this. Isn't this what we said we wanted?"

And he's absolutely right.

I remember when the Convenant With Black America was first released, the Chairmen of both the Democratic and Republican parties wrote letters to Tavis Smiley, saying that their respective candidates would address the issues outlined in the convenant, during the 2008 election.

They made that promise that the candidates would address those issues.

And I recall Tavis saying something along the lines then that it wasn't about him or any particular party. That whichever party did the best job of addressing the issues in the Convenant, would be the party that would have earned the votes of Black America.

That was pretty much what he said.

So for Tavis Smiley, it has never been about him. It has always been about Black America, and for the past several years, getting the issues in the Convenant addressed.

Sounds to me as though you don't even have a clue about Tavis Smiley.
