Hillary today probably turned off exactly the people she needs to win |
|
Coming back from the gym, I heard sound bites via the M$M on the "Shame on you Barack" story of the day. It was in that news summary variety many stations play at the top of every hour.
Hillary's tone sounded shrill (even with a horse voice) and downright angry - Obama sounded measured and calm in response.
She played right into the negative and unfortunate sexist stereo type of an angry and scolding mother. Shame on you! In essence, it may only fire up her most dedicated base, but it was a big turn off to everyone else. And she needs (everyone else) to win.
Her figurative slap in the face with a meet ya at high noon for the OH debate has really raised expectations now, but not in a good way.
Oh it's silly season alright Barack. Hopefully, he can stay above the silly. But Hillary's gonna attack with both guns blazing in Ohio - she threw down the gauntlet - but the splash back could hit her square in her political face.
I understand people will want to debate the substantive issues and nuances of their health care and NAFTA positions, but all people could talk about at the gym (who pay attention) was geez - what caused Hillary to flip out?
She is not getting any better campaign advice today....and it showed.

Why is no one willing to blame her for her own campaign? She said she had just been handed those mailers, and then SHE went directly to the media and unloaded.
It's beginning to sound a bit like not blaming the little woman for what the unscruplulous sob of a man is doing to her.
This is HER campaign. Today's episode had nothing to do with advice. Her xerox comment came out of her mouth. This is who Hillary really is.

13. No - I think all Dems want some kind of available and... |
|
...accessible health care.
But bigtree, I'm afraid what got the headlines today was not what she said - but how she said it. People are politically punch drunk from talking issues - how many times have they debated ...18+?
If it's about moving the fence sitters and undecideds - Hillary sounded far, far from the rational and measured tone we want from a Commander in Chief. She sounded shrill and petty. I'm just talking sound here...
And if it is down to simple sound bites --- Hillary's voice made her sound desperate, angry, and very un-presidential.
Her mood was bad - oh so bad!
And people remember mood much better than words, in a 60 second news summary.

... and no doubt, some here will call me worse - but I will always believe that Hillary Clinton is a much better candidate than her campaign has defined her as being, than her so-called "advisors" have allowed her to be.
It seems apparent that she has been advised to go negative, go on the attack - and it seems just as apparent that this is not her personal style at all, nor her preference.
I also struggle to remind myself every day that Hillary is a much better person than some of her supporters have proven themselves to be - and ain't that a shame?

15. And as an Obama supporter... |
|
Once the dust has settled and the gloves are on the table --- I think (and hope) that Hillary having no longer any need to be on the defensive or go negative, will be embraced by most Obama supporters as a needed and critical part of his winning strategy.
Obama needs Hillary to win the GE, despite what some may say.
I agree Nance, Hillary is a good person; and I hope she has a substantive place in an Obama administration. Secretary of State perhaps?

WTF will we get from her if she ends up being POTUS?
There are several other threads at DU today about the Cuban Missile Crisis.
And that is a potent reminder of how important it that the country has a President who can make up their mind on their own.

There are only 100 people and no one can afford to ostracize anyone because they don't like them. There are still people here suggesting her for majority leader if Reid is replaced. I think it unlikely if Obama is President as the next in line is Durbin, a very close Obama ally - the first Senator to encourage him to run.

Now the only thing I can compare that to is junior high but I can hardly sleep at night waiting for The Daily Show.
