Unhinged - today's right-wing word |
|
In the space of minutes, at least a half dozen threads opened with the word "unhinged" used to discribe Hillary Clinton. This is a textbook example of Karl Rove attack politics at work. Clearly messages were sent from a central source instructing people to post "Hillary unhinged" on message boards this evening.
Anybody using the word "unhinged" in a post this evening is suspect.

It is flipping amazing when another democrat disagrees or criticizes your candidate it seems the HRC supporters immediately throw out - you must be a republican, or something along those lines, yours is no different, you just inserted right wing.
So, it is you're either with Hillary or with the terrorists? Is that it?

to calmly produced an ad that features other's comments about Clinton's misleading flyers about Obama. There have been many in the past. They can also add factcheck.org's comments about how Obama's ads were not misleading. That would be all they have to say - use other's calm, reasoned words. And the difference would be obvious.
And how is it Karl Rove-like to use the word unhinged, when Clinton supporters use the word liar against Obama - and many more words, bad or worse.

100. "How is it Karl Rove-like to use the word unhinged |
|
when Clinton supporters use the word liar against Obama - and many more words, bad or worse."
It's Rove-like because "unhinged" is not a word that is commonly heard. It's not the first word to come to mind to described someone that's acting crazy, it doesn't fall easily off the tongue.
"Divisive" and "polarizing" aren't words that are heard commonly either to describe disruptive behavior, unless they are used to describe Sen. Clinton by people that I usually peg as right-wing tools because it's mostly right-wing tools use those words.
But liar is a common word. It's the first word that comes to mind to describe someone who isn't telling the truth. And it falls easily from the tongue.

I was responding to you the person I am - an individual- someone who comes here to learn, share, and connect. I haven't been "instructed" by anyone- I'm just a weary middle aged single mother who has lived through a bunch of crap in my life, and who is not going to be around all that much longer- I would like- I hope that before I die- this country in hands that are the best possible ones to lead us out of the hell-hole we are in. My children and grandchildren deserve to have better leadership than they've had for much of their lives.
You obviously belong to some kind of orginazation that tells you what you should and shouldn't say- I belong to myself. It's not very thrilling- and sometimes I make an ass out of myself- but I represent only me- and answer to me-
I wish you well- peace~ blu

There is far more un-spoken meaning in the words "shame on you" than there is in "unhinged"-
What word would you find 'acceptable' for anyone to use to describe her response today???

Did you ever watch the documentary "Outfoxed?" It showed how Fox News used the word "flip flop" over and over and over again against John Kerry. Eventually, the word just got inextricably combined in people's minds with John Kerry.
It's an old marketing tool. The idea is to use a single word or image in association with an object over and over and over again so that people are almost brainwashed into automatically thinking of that word whenever they think of the object.
The same word "unhinged" appeared simultaneously in a half-dozen threads about Hillary Clinton here on GD-P this evening. Not a variety of words. One word - unhinged.
Are you asking me to believe that a half-dozen unrelated posters just thought up the same word at the same time to describe Hillary Clinton?
No way. Somebody told a bunch of people to use the word "unhinged" in association with Hillary Clinton tonight. Either that, or this is a really remarkable coincidence.
If all those threads had used *different* words to describe Hillary, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But the same word? At the exact same time?

75. yes, I was completely |

honest in my lack of understanding.
I think I get what you are saying- but I have to say that I personally don't see the word "unhinged" in the same light you do- I'm willing to admit it may be because I don't support Hillary- maybe you are onto something and I just don't get it- but I really don't see it.
The words "cult" and "empty rhetoric" " All words, no supstance" could fit into the same mo that you are talking about- wouldn't you agree? I don't think that either 'side' is without those who wish to manipulate others.
I found the "shaming' meme- to be very inappropriate- (which I've said before)- And maybe I'm not able to get past that.
thanks for explaining it so I can understand-
I'm actually glad that you answered my question -

I actually suspect that about "cult." While it didn't appear quite so obviously simultaneously as "unhinged," it did appear all over pretty quickly.
This is b.s. no matter which Democrat is doing it. It's unworthy of Democrats. Planting words and planned smear campaigns are the scum-behavior of scum. Democrats are better than that.

56. Oh I was just musing about the old phrase "flip flop." Haven't heard that in awhile. |
|
Isn't it....funny....how a single word can suddenly become all the rage and then poof it's all gone?

61. I think what happened was; someone here used the term "unhinged" |
|
And (for whatever reason), other people liked it and began using it. Same thing with the "Obama Cult". Not some Republican infiltration, just people not thinking about the words they're using.

65. I'll be that you think that nobody could have predicted that bin Laden would fly airplanes |

into buildings, too.
I guess that 2000 was just a series of unexpectedly disappointing events so that the Supreme Court had to step in and sort it all out and all. And nobody could have predicted that the levees would fail. And I'm sure that those WMD are hiding somewhere in Iraq.
I don't believe in coincidences anymore. I saw flip flop with my own eyes. I saw unhinged tonight.

"think that nobody could have predicted that bin Laden would fly airplanes into buildings"? I don't recall EVER saying that (unless you can head my thoughts in which case, GET OUT OF MY HEAD :P)
Seriously though. There's evidence that the Government knew about the bin Laden threat. There's evidence that Bush and Brown were told of the possibility the levees would break. And there's shitloads of evidence that the WMD story was purely concocted.
What evidence do you have to support the claim that "messages were sent from a central source instructing people to post "Hillary unhinged" on message boards this evening."?

82. The evidence that a single word - Unhinged - appeared all over GD-P in the space of moments. |
|
That's either a remarkable coincidence or evidence of a planned coordinated smear against Hillary. The fact that the word disappeared as soon as some of us pointed it out is an example of an even more remarkable coincidence, or further evidence that its use was planned, and when it backfired, the plan was cancelled.

Simply amazing.

Obama is in reality, one corrupt guy. HE sets the tone for these Obama-nasties: the sexism, the passive aggressive attacks, the use of right-wing smears on a Democrat-- all of it.
Barack Obama himself is the source of the divisiveness.
