Just an observation - am curious about this question.. |
|
I've watched the back and forths, the newsflashes, and the aggressiveness/nastiness/humor off and on throughout the day. To me, it just seems as though Hillary supporters are more "Intra-Dem Partisan" - not many of them would say that they would be happy with/vote for Obama if he was the Dem candidate. The Obama supporters seem a bit more "olive-branch-offering" - certainly supportive of him, but more likely to say that the most important thing is getting a Dem in office/beating McCain, so Hillary would be just fine if she got the nomination. At the risk of really stirring up the shitstorm, I am trying to figure out how serious this fracture is toward our ability to take the White House back in a few months....do people see this as politics as expected/usual, or is there something a bit amiss for us at this point, due to the length of the primarly season/closeness of the current status?

1. Actually I've seen the opposite - BO has made the assertion that... |

Many of his supporters will not support HRC in the general. I have heard him make that argument several times as a reason to support him. In contrast I just heard HRC on CSPAN <again> talk about unity and support of the nominee after the primary season and the importance of coming together. Check it out...

5. It seems to be used as a sort of pressure/scare tactic too... |

Which I understand is just part of the competitive race thing... but still...not really an 'olive branch' either....

I've seen MANY of Obama's supporters say they'd never vote for Hillary under any circumstances. I've seen some saying she should be "outlawed." And others have said that Hillary's supporters aren't "real Democrats." And, of course there are the many, many misogynist posts about Hillary. If that's offering an olive branch, I don't want it, thanks.
True, there's been vitrol on both sides. But saying that Obama's supporters are more "olive-branch-offering" is just not true.
