Some free advice for the Kerry campaign |
|
which can be taken for what it is worth. You need better surrogates. Defeated opponents, including Dean, are limited by having campaigned against him. Dean has done phenominally well but he will get asked everytime he defends Kerry "but you said x". Biden, who was on ABC's This Week, is way too full of himself. He just got done saying that Kerry was dead wrong to have voted against the $87 billion. Before going on vacation, Kerry should have set that up. Take it for what it is worth, but I am trying to help. BTW for those who want all Dean supporters to sit down and shut up you have made yourselves abundantly clear, so please restrain yourself for just one little itsy bitsy thread. Is that too much to ask?

"Is that too much to ask", indeed. :)
FWIW I thought Dean did well with the "...but during your campaign you slammed Kerry for ______" questions. I really liked his response, that the focus during the primaries is on our differences, and in the GE it's on the values we share.
But remember (I have to keep reminding myself) this is only March. Everything gets dialed up as we approach November.

Josh Marshall has a good post on his blog on this. He thinks Dick Holbrooke should be on as much as possible, because he's a very credible voice on foreign policy issues.

4. You give very good advice. |

FWIW I have never been one to tell anyone to sit down and shut up. My pet peeve is bringing the latest freeper ads, pictures here for us all to see, but that is another story. Keep on keeping on.

5. My personal advise as I see it.... |
|
I've been rally watching this play. Kerry campaign needs better spokepersons on TV. The criminal bushes always have rapid-speaking, talk-over-shout-over the Kerry opponent, and the Kerry spokesperson never gets a word in. The criminal bushes have hired black women to represent them on TV...a little bit racist, and they can really shout down the opponent.
Kerry campaign needs to be able to change the spokesperson at an instant, when they are pitted Kerry man vs bushie woman. The criminal bushes like to use a female defender against a male Kerry defender. The Kerry male defender comes across as too polite, respectful (exactly what they want) against a woman. But, if the Kerry defender, comes out too strong against the woman, the criminal bushes want it to come out as disrespectful to women. Those women are pitbulls. The criminal bushes are losing the women vote and that is exactly whey they have women as spokespeople on TV.
This is when I love Rev Al Sharpton. He's the best at having the criminal bushe's spokesperson run with their tail between their legs.

6. In fairness Kennedy did terrific |
|
He should be on a lot more. He was able to differentiate his (Kennedy's) votes from Kerry's without saying Kerry was wrong. He was strong, articulate, and funny when needed. He was a keeper.

7. I see it as a plus, not a limitation |
|
When former opponents answer "but you said X," they have an opportunity to speak to every voter who's thinking "I don't like Kerry because of X." Dean spoke very well in saying there's more agreement than disagreement, and consider the alternative! The goal is to beat Bush, period. I think it's helpful for voters to hear that said by former opponents.
