Obama responds, and hits Clinton's experience
Firing back at Hillary's criticism of his NAFTA mailers here, Obama said tonight that she can't pick and choose from her husband's administration.

"You can’t be for something or take credit for an administration and 35 years of experience and then when you run for president suggest somehow you didn’t really mean what you said back then," Obama said to applause at a rally of about 5,000. "It doesn't work that way."

He said Clinton had in fact supported the trade deal that is blamed for thousands of job losses in the industrial hub of this state and that is viewed as something akin to cancer by Ohio Democrats.

"The truth is that Sen. Clinton supported NAFTA before she ran for president. That is indisupatable. She called it 'a victory' in her book. She told people it has proved its worth. T hose are facts."

Obama struck a defensive tone in bringing up another matter on which he and Clinton have battled.

"Sen. Clinton also said today, 'Since when do Democrats attack one another on universal health care?'" he quoted her as asking.

"Well, since she started saying that I’m against universal health care, that’s when it started," he answered. "Something that she repeats every single day."

And seeking to portray Clinton as being the negative one in the race, Obama took special note to remind the crowd one of the Democrats' favorite bogeymen.

"She actually compared our campaign to Karl Rove's," Obama said to boos. "That's one I had not heard before."

1. Countdown to Hillary people barging in and screaming
"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE POLITICS OF HOPE GUYZ? HA HA ISN'T THAT FUNNY?"

Seriously, though, that's an excellent response--and he's spot on. She's been cherry-picking elements of Bill's presidency since the beginning.

I wonder if he said it with a straight face.

Now that would be a feat.

8. Typical Obama for not letting Hillary scold him, equate him with Rove and attack his credentials
as a Democrat. I'm glad he's calling her on her hypocrisy!

Actually, I thought it fantastic that old "Glass Jaw" Obama received
an upper cut and a left cross today.

The coward deserved it.

From a chick, no less. What a hoot.

25. Yup.. Typical...
Sticking up for himself after another negative attack from Clinton.

He doesn't throw the first unfair punch, but he sure as hell is quick to defend himself - which is necessary!

7. He compared her husband's administration to Nixon.
And essentially calls her a war criminal every single day. Oh, and paints her as a racist.

The fact he can make so many people consider him squeaky clean bodes well for the Democrats in the election. Let's hope that people stay with him if he is elected. I have a feeling there will be a lot of buyer's remorse, but we can deal with that then.

19. I didn't say she was.
But every time someones says she voted for the war, the war being illegal, that paints her as a war criminal. Obama says it frequently.

20. And that's my main gripe against her...so
yeah, I'm glad Obama is doing this. As Frank Rich so eloquently states in his NYT article, "The Audacity of Hoplessness", tomorrow..

"It’s not just that her candidacy’s central premise — the priceless value of “experience” — was fatally poisoned from the start by her still ill-explained vote to authorize the fiasco. Senator Clinton then compounded that 2002 misjudgment by pursuing a 2008 campaign strategy that uncannily mimicked the disastrous Bush Iraq war plan. After promising a cakewalk to the nomination — “It will be me,” Mrs. Clinton told Katie Couric in November — she was routed by an insurgency.

I don't fault John Edwards for it anymore because he did apologize and said it was a mistake and I believe him.

21. Are you so easy with Bush?
After all, if what the Obama supporters are saying is true, Bush was just doing what the Senate wanted him to do.

I don't fault Edwards, Kerry, or Clinton- I don't believe they wanted to invade. If they had been president at the time, I do not think they would have invaded, at least while Saddam was complying with the weapons inspectors and seeking exile.

I blame Bush. There is your real war criminal.

22. You don't need to throw in a red herring by
the name of bush..hilary is the warmonger and if you can't see that then there's no use talking it to death.

Kerry and Edwards did a one eighty on it and hilary still has to look "tough"..and they've run their campaign like they've done everything else; with hubris, lies, and ineptitude.

23. She said it was a mistake, but refused to apologize because
at the time, she felt she voted correctly.

So, no. I don't see the warmonger thing.

I see lots of Obama positives though. But his negative attacks and outright lies drag him down greatly in my eyes. Still, I don't consider Clinton any better... not as high, not as low... just so-so all the time.

I will be voting for whichever one is the nominee, because either of them is better than the alternative.

answers her attacks with logic. Jeeze hilary..way to keep driving home the nail that your vote for the IWR and support of bush's war all those years was the preview for the prevaracating hilary.
