This is exactly why I've been telling people to not be so cocky |
|
about having the White House in the bag.
It's why I've been telling certain Obama supporters that instead of gloating and shitting all over certain people and spending all of their time trying to act provocative, they should be reaching out to court votes from the Hillary camp and the gay camp.
The same would hold true on Hillary's side if she was in Obama's position.
Sorry, but told you.
I had a feeling this asshole would jump into the race. You just NEVER, ever know what's going to happen. That's why you don't talk shit before the big game, because it can come back to haunt you.
It'll be interesting now to see how many people will be adjusting their unacceptably divisive behaviors in wake of what happened today.
Because damn, you don't think Obama needs Hillary supporters and teh gays now?

4. For the record, Obama himself has done NOTHING to discourage Hillary supporters |
|
from voting for him.
It's a deception created by too much time spent on this site, this belief that Obama hates Hillary and her supporters, or that even the majority of Obama's supporters hate Hillary and her supporters....
A lot of people need to learn to tell the difference between the Internet and real life.

I've been saying it won't be a cakewalk even before Nader jumped in because you can't underestimate the dirty tricks machine known as the Republican partt
Yet, I've read posts that Obama will be stomping McCain.

14. that's confusing to me |
|
Nader is well to the left of Obama. Hillary is to the right of Obama, or, at best, just a teeny tiny bit to the left of Obama. So why would Hillary supporters goto Nader?
Also, I sorta figure that anybody with two brain cells to rub together can follow the logic from 2000. + for Nader = - for Obama ----> President McCain.
Also, presumably the Clintons, once they have spent a few weeks consoling themselves, will endorse and work for the Dem nominee, unless they decide to go totally Lieberman.

23. I agree. It doesn't do any good to win the nomination if they antagonize |
|
the people they need on their side. That is the problem with having supporters that are new blood. They are so gun ho that they do things that shouldn't be done because of their inexperience. And there are others that are not willing to try new methods or ideas in a campaign.

28. If Obama has to spend time wooing Gays, Blacks, and Liberals, He doesn't stand a |
|
chance in the general election anyway. So I don't think you have a point. I am sure the Republicans will try and paint Obama as the biggest Hillary, Gay, leftest on the planet anyway. Obama needs to be running to the center to sure up all the moderate and independent votes he can before McCain raises the money and resources to do it.
I think if a person wants to NOT vote for a candidate and abandon their values based on something that one of his many millions of supporters said about their candidate, they probably are not rational enough to be allowed into a voting booth anyway.

36. Rather than "you people" need to woo everyone, I would say WE DEMOCRATS need to do this. |
|
I agree totally with your premise, and have tried to do the same thing to supporters of both candidates. What unites us is more crucial than what divides us. This is why saying "candidate X is NOT READY to be president" is EXTREMELY divisive. And THAT is done by one of the campaigns itself. so they need to search their own souls, and pass that to their constituents.
For the country, indeed the entire biosphere, we need to pull together - and the change starts in each individual's conscience.

39. It's just not Nader....my point has been anything can |
|
happen in politics, so people shouldn't act as though they have the White House in the bag.
I've read posts saying, "I guarantee we're going to win it," or "Obama is going to stomp McCain in November," etc., etc.
And I've said WRONG.
The election in November will be close, if only because the Republicans will cheat.
So people should be doing less talking smack and more reaching out to those who are saying they'll leave their ballot blank if Obama is the nominee.
There's so much more work to be done.
