Ripping Off The Mask
Kudos to Senator Clinton a brilliant performance!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/24/hillary-clinton-mocks-bar_n_88194.html

If the media won't do it's job --I say let Hillary do it.

Time to take the mask off, Senator Obama.

9. This must be the most misremembered SNL sketch in the history of forever.
She (Amy Poehler) was dressed up as a bride, but the other candidates kept mistaking her for a witch.

Then Obama came out (as himself, wearing an Obama mask) and said "And Hillary, you make a very lovely bride."

Darryl Hammond (as Bill Clinton): "She's a witch!"

You can watch it yourself at the NBC website.

Oddly enough, at that time Hillary was the frontrunner, and everyone was making fun of her.

Then after the strike, SNL has been pro-Hillary and very hard on Obama. Go figure.

It's like she just doesn't want to win this thing. I've never seen a campaign sabotage itself in so many ways like Clinton's has. It's actually kind of uncomfortable watching her implode like this. But oh well, she made her bed.

22. when will Hillary reveal her own true nature?
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 04:51 PM by Bluerthanblue
I don't believe any of us has witnessed who she really is.

I think she is walking a very thin line between being able to hold herself together and completely losing it. Somewhere underneath the anger, the bravado, the professional "I've got everything under control, nothing can rattle me" is the person-
Hillary, who has struggled much of her life to achieve what other people have told her she should 'want'.
She has been so busy trying to become what she believes will make her "GOOD" that she has never had the opportunity to learn to appreciate and embrace her many very positive and admirable qualities, and understand that she always has been "enough" and she didn't need to prove anything to anyone.

IMO-

I find this incredibly sad.
And I do have compassion for her life long struggle, and hope for her future. Regardless of whether that future holds political achievements.

I realize you were attempting to use your post to kick at Obama, and applaud Hillary, but your title and her recent performances keep speaking out over the clamor of political rhetoric, and superficial bickering.

peace~

25. No, Obama has been himself from the start. His message, his agenda, his personality--
he does not present a different face from day to day, which makes people like him and trust him. Hillary is veering from conciliatory to angry to sarcastic--what comes tomorrow?

Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 06:00 PM by Bluerthanblue
doesn't see him as perfect. I've never experienced the 'romantic- magical' attraction that some people describe.
I'm far too jaded by life to be able to do that. The qualities that I admire most about Obama go beyond is ability to speak well, and to help people feel hopeful. He is not afraid to admit error, to acknowledge openly and honestly his own mistakes and poor judgments. That speaks of a person who has a good self image, and who has learned that he cannot run away from his past.

I don't deny that reality is complex. But I do disagree that Hillary is what she 'shows the world'. I don't believe anyone has yet seen the real Hillary- including - especially herself, because she has not allowed the real Hillary to actually BE- she has spent her life running- always striving to acomplish some 'task'- and the most difficult and rewarding one still awaits her.

I truly believe this.

peace~

30. It's not, it's not, it's not.
That's the entire problem with the campaign. I do blame her since ultimately, she's responsible for the way it's being run, but I don't fault her as much as others do. She should've flicked off the Mark Penn/Bill Clinton devil-angels from her shoulders right after New Hampshire.

She's been an awful candidate, maddiejoan. I know you don't agree, and that's ok, but it's an increasingly obvious thing I'm talking about here.

Mark Penn is a disaster --but that's not what I meant by "it's all her".

I was referring to the many sides we see of Hillary.

Complex Human being ALL have many sides. I'm sure Obama does as well.

I haven't seen more than two sides of Obama. He plays everything incredibly close to the vest.

This makes for a good campaigner perhaps - but it doesn't elicit trust from me.

I don't know who he is.

Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 05:54 PM by VolcanoJen
Prior to today, the campaign let Bill and surrogates throw out the "fairy tale" and "shuck and jive" and "cult" memes. They tried their best not to let Hillary get dirty on the stump.

But today, Hillary took it upon herself to push these memes to a new level. "Illusion." "Magic Wand." "The sky will open."

It's really got me scratching my head, seeing as how this prong of attack has yet to work for her campaign, and now that they're making the words hers, aren't they kind of doubling down on an awful hand?

42. Wow, she sure can be nasty sometimes.
Are you saying that the media needs to use more bizarre hyperboles to mock the supporters of Barack Obama? Not a single Obama supporter I know thinks any of the things mentioned by Clinton in that clip. That sort of magical thinking is insane. How does people casting votes for someone other than Clinton suddenly translate to a belief in supernatural miracles? I thought it just meant they prefer someone other than Clinton make it to the GE.
