Why are some Hillary supporters so selectively idealistic? |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 05:05 PM by George_Bonanza
Things associated with Hillary like IWR, NAFTA, lobbyist money, etc. don't bother them one bit, but as soon as the prospect of having Obama as the Democratic nominee comes up, their idealism switch flicks on and they'd even consider voting for that once-great has-been Ralph Nader. It's funny how idealism is so poisonous when it comes to voting for Obama, but not when it comes to voting against him via Nader.
I know the answer though: they're partisans with a case of severe sour grapes.

2. I don't see that happening at all. Perhaps if you build it they will come sorta thing. |

Maybe you want Hillary supporters to not vote for Obama. I cannot think of why else you would post such untruths.

3. I'll be very happy if I'm wrong |
|
But from the anti-Nader sentiment on DU, I assumed that Obama supporters were worried that embittered Hillary supporters would go Nader.

people bashing the Democratic party and bringing a lot of new people into the party by promising "new politic" by being consilitory with republicans.
So they won't jump over Obama to get to Nader.

6. You're turning away from a candidate because of his/her SUPPORTERS? That's ludicrous. |
|
Each candidate should be considered according to his or her own actions and words. To say you'll not vote for X because you don't like the way the supporters are behaving is...
childish short-sighted ingenuous? WHATEVER
Look beyond the pettiness and figure out who you want in the PRESIDENCY in 2009, because I guarantee that no candidate will be taking all their supporters there! To quote whoever said it first: GET REAL!

15. I have not seen this phenomenon |
|
I have seen the postings of many a DUer who has become a Hillary supporter, and if I were to develop a stereotype of them, one of the first stereotypes I would make about this group is that they are hard-core fanatical Democrats. These seem like the least likely to be run off to Nader.
They get mad and tend to make excuses when people post bad stuff about the DLC....about Ben Nelson, Landrieu, Feinstein, etc. and lead the charge on loyalty oaths for supporting the nominee (or at least did when it looked like it was going to be Hillary). I do not see them becoming Nader supporters.
