I made my choice and its Obama
Last week I posted a request for help in my decs ion between Clinton and Obama.

I had just had seen Senator Clinton in Lyndhurst, Ohio and a fellow DUer suggested I see Senator Obama before I make my decision. Last night I saw Senator Obama in Cleveland, Ohio

Let me say this about Senator Clinton. Based on what I saw (and all the other research) I believe she would be a good president.

But when I saw Barack Obama, I could tell there was something special. To start off the night one of his staff approached me and asked if I wanted to volunteer for the campaign. I told him I was undecided. When I saw Senator I was never approached by anybody.

Ok this may be a small thing to some but it was huge factor in my decision (given the fact the two were tied in most other categories in my decision making process).

I also can say with 100% confidence that Senator Obama is the real deal. He will be a GREAT president.

As I left Public Auditorium I was once again approached by one of the Senator's staff and he asked if I wanted to volunteer for the campaign. I signed up.

For anyone who remembered my post from last week I was the Biden delegate in the 14th CD.

So it's official my choice is Barack Obama.

Thanks to all who offered help.

7. Welcome aboard!
That's awesome that you finally made a selection!

Like you, I was undecided, until I met the full force of the Obama campaign.

Their campaign really reached out to people and engages in all kind of creative
ways to get people involved and excited. I experienced this in Iowa and I was
so impressed. When we extrapolate this onto the national scene, McCain won't
know what hit him.

These decisions are tough, but it's great when you finally break for a candidate
and throw your support to someone in whom you truly believe.

Awesome story! Thanks for sharing.

8. Obama gets things done
and he has a very good understanding of the issues, especially the economy!
Unlike McCain who said he didn't understand the economy! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/21/short-on-economic-underst_n_82529.html

And congratulations for making an informed choice. You walked the walk by giving both candidates a chance and that is admirable.

For taking the time to hear out both candidates, and research your options well - with an open mind. I'm glad you found a candidate that you can not only support but volunteer your time for. And of course I'm thrilled to know it's Obama :)

Around 7,000.

Great crowd very diverse.

Lot's of young people. I turned to turned to my brother and said I think we are the oldest two on the floor. I'm 45 and he is 43.

27. I saw Senator Clinton live and knew she was the real deal, too...
...signed up to volunteer as well. What I loved were the specifics that affected my life and those of others. I left being a better person as a result of her speech. With Obama, I pick up the revivalist flavor (supporters are told to talk about how they "came to Obama"), but "Who said what couldn't be done?" And hope may vary.

Running for President after one year in the Senate tells me that the man doesn't know what it takes to handle the world's most difficult job, but then he has a history of always moving on the next job. One year as a U.S. Senator and then AWOL campaigning does not give me much hope.

Taking the $1000 campaign donation from Rezko when it was known all over Chicago that poor, mostly blacks, were without heat for five weeks in the winter of 1997 in a Rezko-owned building showed me Obama is either willfully ignorant of what was going on in his district or lacks a heart.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/353829,CST-NWS-rez23.article

"Rezko and Mahru couldn't find money to get the heat back on.

But their company, Rezmar Corp., did come up with $1,000 to give to the political campaign fund of Barack Obama, the newly elected state senator whose district included the unheated building."

29. That's fantastic! I remember talking to you last week!
Here's your thread, FYI: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4615252#4615338

And I'm really glad that you got a chance to see Obama! Only 20 feet away? That might just be the closest I've heard of yet! Congrats!

I hope that you get a chance to volunteer. I'm in PA and have been doing a bit of that myself. It's really fun to be out there and see the enthusiasm for Obama first-hand (i.e. outside of DU ;)). I have been impressed and touched by how many people support Obama and are really engaged in these elections.
