For HIllary supporters
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 05:22 PM by LadyVT
:) Hi! Don't get discouraged by the vibe on this site. It doesn't represent the whole Democratic Party, just people who hang out on the web on a Sunday afternoon. Things you can DO to support our candidate: (1) If you live in a state with early voting, find out where the early polling places are, and make and take a sign with you--Obama supporters have been quite effective at doing this, and there's no reason we shouldn't also show up. (2) Go to Hillary's website; there are loads of suggestions there! The blogs there are also very inspiring. Campaign offices in every state are listed as well. (3) There are other places on DU that are less stressful to visit than this forum at the moment. (4) Don't waste too much time posting on DU, especially if it is getting overwhelming or hurtful. Nearly every person here has already made up their mind, and many are no longer listening or curious. (Many, many HIllary supporters are no longer coming here at all, or coming much less frequently because of the tone; so it's becoming a bit of an echo chamber.)

Get out there, people! She needs us! Stay positive.

Hillary '08! :)

1. I am always concerned that they will stick my early voting ballot
somewhere and won't count it.

2. Even if you don't early vote, you can still make your presence known with a sign
Public perception is really important! Nearly 11 million people have voted for Hillary so far.

3. It's not love, it's infatuation
And it will wear off as such. His promises can't keep shrinking before people suspect that he's cheating on them, metaphorically speaking :)

Great Post!

And by the way, the media is to mostly blame for contributing to the imbalance here, in my opinion. The vibe isn't indicative of any major Obama infection here in Tennessee, at least. What the media is responsible for is tagging her as inevitable and thereby granting us naturally lazy creatures license to sit around and not be active, militant Hillary supporters. I'm a 28 year old guy, everyone thinks I'm auto-Obama. No way, Jose. :) I wasn't here to offset the momentum. They were inspired, we were confident. Now they wonder if we're automatic bots for the Hillary campaign. We're here and we're proud. GO HILLARY!

4. Every day is like a week in the process at this point.
Obama bragged yesterday that he was the 'insurgent' at one point in the election, but It's Hillary who will now attract the folks who just don't buy into the feel-good, cheerleading campaign Obama is touring around. I just watched his speech. He's still way too loud and his speeches are thin gruel for folks looking for answers and solutions behind his homilies.

And, look at the absolute fury coming from the Obama camp . . . Something is definitely hap . . . .

5. Yeah something has to be up
If Obama wants you to think he would have dropped out by now. I guess time isn't on his side after all.

6. It's clear he won't win the general; the question is how long will it take
before the PEA, dopamine, and norepinephrine surging in the brains of some of his infatuated supporters wears off (typically 3-6 months). That initial surge is a big one, though, which accounts for him sweeping into states and racking up the numbers.

By November, it will be long gone. Nothing disrupts infatuation like reality, as we all know from experience.

7. I'm not discouraged....
I'm actually finding all of the "outrage" from them pretty amusing. The ALL CAPS and !!!!! gives away the drama queens without even opening the thread.

8. A lot of people are going to be disillusioned...
when they see their Knight in Shining Armor is just a nicely dressed, personable but very common human being. I don't think Obama is a bad person; I think he's a man whose bought into his heroic marketing, and has sold it to people who think they need a hero to "save" them.

Like I said on another thread, I feel sorry for the young people who have bought the advertising. I love the fact that they're getting involved, and I hope that when they see Obama as just another politician, not a savior, they'll continue to be involved in the political process in the future.
