So, let's see - calling someone a "hack" gets an apology, but not "bitch"..? |
|
Now, I know the McCain/radio host intro is more than a "hack" and deals with the radio personality saying more, but where was McCain's apology for when the supporter called HRC a "bitch?"
What a bunch of shit.
Though I am happy to see McCain catch hell for this incident from both sides. Wonder if the other right wing radio nutjobs will now pull their newly found McCain love since he took a bite out of the ass of one of them. Doubt it.

your and her points are very good -
The 'bitch' comment should not only have deserved a rebuke- he owes Hillary a personal apology. :hi: peace~
(sorry, Behar, not Behr)

3. Right now the ladies on The View are going off on Chris Matthews with |
|
a list of his nasty sexist remarks about Hillary,
including "I hate her, I hate her I hate her" "uppity" (Whooppi mentioned he's be fired if
he had called Obama that) "She castrate Denny Hoyer" well, you know the rest
Good stuff

4. the discussion IS very good- the examples given are difficult |
|
to easily 'juxtapose' though- but calling out the rude and offensive words that Matthews used is important.
I haven't seen this show since Rosie- and am glad to hear them talking openly about this.

5. But....what good is a good discussion.... |
|
if very little changes?
These debates are all messed up. For example, not long ago Jane Fonda accidentally uttered the dreaded "c" word for the female genitalia and was hammered for it. Her usage did not contain any sort of venom, anger or other negative connotation and was just a slip of the tongue or she was in a setting where she felt like she could talk like an adult.
In McCain's situation, a supporter uses the word "bitch" in a negative matter, with venom and almost zilch is said.
I'm sorry, but the more I see things like this, the more I think the advances of sexism are much further behind than racism.

9. I remember seeing the 'bitch' item- in the news- It was really |
|
pretty disturbing in that, the woman who said the word, took great pleasure in the slur- I saw it more as a way for her (clearly Republican) to bash the Democratic party. And McCains reply was less than ok, because he couldn't resist the temptation of dissing the Dem's. (this is how I remember feeling at the time) I don't think that we can or should make a 'contest' out of which group is 'further behind'- There are too many examples on both sides as it is.
Maybe because I'm in NH and the campaign was 24/7 for more than a month- McCains remark got a fair ammount of press- but he wasn't hung out to dry for his response the way I think he would have been today- :hi: peace~

The "bitch"-sayer was not on-stage and officially sanctioned as a speaker.
Not defending either, only saying why one got an official apology and one didn't.

10. I guarantee if he had said that on stage, in an introductory speech, |

McCain's apology would have been immediate. Mac ain't dumb.
