John Lewis Officially Switches To Obama
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/stories/2008/02/27/Lewis_0228_web.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab

Washington — Hoping to put an end to a month of confusion and dismay, Rep. John Lewis on Wednesday said he's switching his support from Sen. Hillary Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Lewis cited the overwhelming preference for Obama in his district as a reason for his change of heart, but he also talked about Obama's campaign as transformational for the nation.

"Something's happening in America, something some of us did not see coming," Lewis said. "Barack Obama has tapped into something that is extraordinary.

1. "Barack Obama has tapped into something that is extraordinary...
and I gotta get on THAT gravy train"

Just another sickening, self-serving politician who hopes that he might gain some favor that will benefit him in the long run. I bet when he threw his support to Hillary, she was leading in the polls.
They have no loyalty to us, they have no loyalty to each other, only to advance their own fatted interests.

I'm not impressed.

2. The only loyalty lies on the side that's winning. That's democracy for ya.
Sad, but not surprising. Many on this forum have been posting threads to call the delegates to get them to switch to Obama.

3. Agreed. John Conyers had more courage -- he's been with Obama all along
Even before Iowa.

8. It takes courage to back someone from the start
but it is nothing but self-serving swill to jump ship when their candidate starts losing.

4. Or you could see it as being sensitive to the mood of the people...
It is supposed to be government OF, BY and FOR THE PEOPLE.

6. Then everyone would change their vote to reflect how their state voted.
Kennedy and Kerry ring a bell?

17. Very true, and Obama's not very popular here either.
Arizona is Hillary country.

They were releasing polls a day before the election showing them tied. Trying to push the vote for Obama, but we're smarter than that.

:woohoo:

I believe it would benefit Obama. He has, after all, won the majority of states.

Washington State senators who support Clinton sound familiar to YOU? That state overwhelmingly chose Obama-you hear any Obama people whining about them?

a lot of democrats are saying about this growing-ever-more-futile run by Hillary Clinton-all they are doing is detracting the talk away from the true enemy-the republicans and John McCain

36. What is self-serving swill
is the fact that they will twist each others arms for something as irrelevant as an unneeded delegate vote...but will NOT twist arms when it comes down to saving the Constitutional rights of American citizens.
That is the PURE definition of self-serving.
But I sincerely doubt you read any more than what you needed to pump up the legend of obama.

Obama’s African-American supporters in Congress have put pressure on their black colleagues in the Clinton camp to change their allegiance. That pressure has included the suggestion that they could face tough primary challenges if they do not toe the Obama line.
