5. I don't get it...

It's a question which does not seem to be a leading one. (Also, since "No" is currently winning, it may give HRC supporters some ammo with which to respond to the many calls for her exit). I voted no, and I'm supporting Obama. I agree with Thom Hartmann's statement on this: This heavily contested race is making both Clinton and Obama better and stronger candidates, so as far as I'm concerned neither one should exit any time soon. I do believe that the convention in August would be much too late to choose a candidate however, so if you were to ask me this same question perhaps in late June, I might answer differently.

12. and who exactly is us
you think hillary should leave the democrats alone. not likely since she's a democratic senator from a large north eastern state. or did you mean she should leave the obama supporters alone.

6. Hillary is deflecting incoming fire on Obama at this point.
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 02:50 PM by NCarolinawoman
I am more worried that if/when she steps out, the concentrated fire, from the media as well as the Republicans, will be directed at Obama full-force.

9. Yes and no.
Yes, because of the tone her campaign has taken. She's been increasingly more about tearing Obama down than building herself up. That doesn't help anyone.

No, because the focus of the campaign has become about Democrats and Democrats alone. The only time you hear coverage of McCain these days is about his tryst with a lobbyist and the fact that his campaign is flat broke. Or because Huckabee is chasing him down. Nothing about McCain's message is getting through to voters right now, whereas all of ours is. Furthermore, they can't start their smear machine until we have a nominee. Having two people run is buying us some time in that regard, and I think it's pretty apparent that Obama needs the time to develop an anti-smear retaliation machine, else he get thumped like Kerry did.

10. Her attacks on Obama are vile; at least McCain sticks to the issues
and reprimands those speaking ugly on his behalf.

Hillary? Not so much.

14. Not by staying in the race, but by attacking Obama
I think that until Obama gets the requisite number of delegates, or at least enough that he'd have the majority without Michigan and Florida, she has every right to stay in it. But given the fact that the Republicans pretty much have a nominee and are uniting around him, it's very important that Clinton not do or say anything that would hurt Obama's chances in the general, or vice versa. Like my candidate, I will take Clinton at her word that she and her top advisers had nothing to do with circulation of that photo, but I think that her recent attacks about him not being qualified to be commander in chief are detrimental to his chances in the fall.

20. hilaryland would like it to be detrimental
to his chances in the fall..but I think hilary is so much hot air and Obama's campaign will transcend anything that came from her desperation.

17. I don't necessarily agree
After all, there is no attack that the Repukes will not try, and so the earlier they occur, the sooner they become "old news" that has been debunked.

Not that I approve of the tactics or would use them if I were in her place. Some of the attacks, though, I'm convinced are really being done by Repugs and blamed on Clinton. That's how they work.

I'm sure the RW has plenty of fodder should Obama get the nom.

I think this whole "Hillary should drop out" deal is stupid.

19. The primary season is "battle testing" and a good thing for Obama
in preparation for the GE. Sen. Clinton is still viable mathematically and would be wrong to drop out at this point. My guess is that Tuesday, March 4th, will be decisive and that serious consideration to stepping aside will be given Wednesday morning.
