OBAMA should FORGET OHIO after 24/7 MSM orgie about "Hussein" "black racism" and "hack politics"
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 02:57 PM by Sensitivity
There really should be standards to prevent the MSM from endlessly repeating political smears. They are really aiding and abetting the “swift-boating” of our leaders.

Radio talk jock, Bill Cunningham has been calling Obama, "Barack Mohammed Hussein Obama," for some time, along with the claim that Obama "was raised in madrassas in Indonesia" part of a "black separatist" church and a "black racist." But the MSM just gave him a national megaphone.

We may not like it, but the likelihood is that a good sliver of the Ohio audience will not vote this “Hussein” to lead America’s war on terror.

The constant repetition of smears about the "hack Chicago politician from the Daley political machine" using this kind of language in the MSM, especially in Ohio, will likely stall the surge of support to the Obama campaign.

Obama would probably be wise to head to Texas to try to hold onto his lead there.

41. I think the point is that the MSM replays the radio host speech over and over,
so it isn't just the one guy but the hammering by MSM like Dean's "scream".

It is my dream that the young voters will say, "enough" to all the race baiting of the past.

If this election proves nothing else it sjould be " that dog don't hunt no more" Tweety and Rusty!!

8. If Obama loses Ohio it is because it is a closed Primary
The GOP cannot vote in Democratic Primary and Vice/Versa
Independents do not vote in Closed Primaries.

The Democratic Base votes in Ohio Primaries.

Frankly I like this --whoever wins. At least the GOP and Indies
have not chosen our candidate in Ohio. Whoever is the winner.

Get used to the RWers. The Media have kept the Democratic Party
stifled. The GOP will not tolerate it, I believe.

14. It's not a "closed" primary...
You can pick up any ballot you want. Unlike some states that have true "open" primaries where all the choices are on one ballot, Ohio has different ballots for each party. So a Democrat can, in fact, pick up a Republican ballot and vote, but they would not be able to vote in the Democratic Primary because you can only vote once.

22. Independents can vote in the OH primary
And so they should be able to. Self-identified Democrats make up 40% of Americans, according to the latest Gallup poll. That is the highest it has been in 7 years, but it's still not high enough to win the general without support from independents. So allowing them to vote in our primaries is a good way to test which candidates will appeal to independents in the fall.

I do agree that registered Republicans should not be able to vote in Democratic primaries though, or should at least have to actively switch their registration at the polls, the way they do in Iowa. That would discourage strategic voting, since most of the strategic voters are the ones who are active with their state party and wouldn't want it to be on their record that they were ever registered as Democrats.

26. If you cross over in a primary in Ohio
you are actively switching your registration. You have to sign a form saying you support the party (Democratic or Republican) whose primary you are choosing to vote in. You are choosing to be affiliated with that party. My sister did just that a couple of days ago, switched from Republican to Democratic to vote for Obama.

11. Southwest Ohio was racist long before "Willie" Cunningham
came a long. Obama is not going to win down there. I don't think it is reflective of the rest of the state. No one in Cleveland cares what a bigot in Cincinnati has to say, unless they were bigots themselves to begin with.

17. It's the registration laws...
I believe Ohio requires registration at least 30 days prior to the election. Which means that if you decided to vote on February 15th, you'd be out of luck. This primarily effect young voters who have never registered. Once registered in Ohio, you remain on the voting lists for years -- even if you have moved from the state or have died.

Cunningham has given us a good preview of the type of attacks Obama should expect if he wins the nomination, and the only way to counter them is to challenge them with Inquisitorial intensity. Those types of attacks need to be shouted down at every opportunity.

You may be amazed to learn this, but people in Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, Youngstown, etc., cannot even pick up Cincinnati radio stations unless it's over the Web.

And not even all of Cincinnati is gonna fall for that crap.

Ohio is a big state.

Saying Obama won't win here just because of one bigoted radio idiot down south is like saying Hillary won't win because the mayor of Cleveland has endorsed Obama.

nothing written, heard or seen on TV as a flash marketing ad will change their minds at this point. Republicans here, by the way, are planning to vote for HRC provided they want to do the 'strategic' vote and cross.

November could show changing of minds depending on what happens between now and then. Way too early to call.
