Obama to McCain on bin Laden and Iraq War - DEVASTATING
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 04:25 PM by autorank

Obama also has news for McCain

Ben Smith, Politico

Obama departed from his regular stump speech today in Columbus to respond to John McCain.

"John McCain may like to say he wants to follow Osama bin Laden to the gates of Hell, but so far all he’s done is follow George Bush into a misguided war in Iraq," he said.

Obama was responding, incredulously, to McCain's suggestion that he's unaware of the presence of Al Qaeda in Iraq, which the Arizona Senator said earlier today was apparently "news" to Obama at last night's debate.

2. This is a great comeback... counterpunch
What actually impresses me most is his response on Farrakhan. No cheap shot but very eloquent.

I hear that Obama is not anybody's guy, that he's running his own show. If that's true, we won't
know where he's at fully until he's in. I'm not 100% on that but it makes sense, in a curious way.

3. This response has rattled the GOP cages
They are coming up against Howard Dean, only more prepared and polished. Not just the experience and judgment issues. Rather all issues. There is no shit that the GOP can throw and Obama won't calmly turn over and throw back in their faces. He's had years studying their playbook. The media is in shock as well. They don't know how to handle a fearless candidate. Even Edwards did not have this dexterity, and he's very sharp. Then only guy this quick on his feet is Howard Dean himself.

4. And he's got 1 MILLION "LITTLE" PEOPLE behind him ...
It's scaring the corporatist wing of the Democratic Party shitless!

It's like the villagers have lit the torches and are ready to
storm D.C. to take back their government. Those who want to keep
the power in the hands of the moneyed few are VERRRRRY nervous
about this movement ...

11. I remember
I reserved judgment, and went with Edwards on pure electability. I still think Edwards wins hypothetical a match against McCrazy by more points than BO. But that doesn't matter now. BO has plenty of game and seems truly responsive to the democratic wing of the democratic party. I don't know if BO and Dean talk, but I would not be surprised.

12. 'they don't know how to handle a fearless candidate'
good words.

I think he is having an effect like this on a lot of the 'established' ones. It's refreshing but at the same time very disconcerting when you consider how the PtB operate.

also explains very well why the Clinton campaign is in a tizzy trying to figure out what hit them.
Obama is not playing by the old rules, it seems. He is unpredictable, and possibly unowned. All Hillary's jabbing and poking, he has not responded How He Was Supposed To - to get in the gutter with her. This drives her absolutely Mad with rage, I am sure. This is the only game she knows, and Obama is playing another one.

All remains to be seen,
but I am liking this guy more each day. Each day he shows some other treasure of his.

13. i hope to high hell he is "not anybody's guy". Wait...
actually, i hope he feels thoroughly compromised by his donors, the small money party, and will do the bidding of those who bankrolled the campaign. one million people giving an average of $109.00 to the campaign. outblankingstanding.

he gets a whole Money Party column. Hey may anyway.

WTF happened to Norman Thomas anyway? He's getting no attention on this so called leftist forum.

25. Norman Thomas, now there's a name I haven't heard in a long, long time.
From my youth. Egad, he was vilified almost as much as Harold Stassen (who generally had it coming) and Gus Hall. Ever read "They Also Ran"? I don't remember if Thomas got a chapter, but talk about a small money party!

9. McCain is in deep trouble.
Obama in Columbus, Ohio today:

February 27, 2008

"I have some news for John McCain," Obama continued, "That’s there was no Al Qaeda in Iraq until George Bush and John McCain" began the Iraq war, he said.

"They took their eye off the people who really were responsible for 9/11," he said.

This is the core terrain of an Obama-McCain general election: McCain attacks Obama's readiness to lead; Obama links him, Bush, and the war.

John McCain will forever be wedded to George W. Bush's illegal and wanton invasion of Iraq.
