The repugs are going to attack Obama's patriotism, using the flag lapel
as proof, and maybe he should be should just defuse the frickn' apperance issue by wearing 3 lapal flags just to out do those bastards

In a way it would be like his deplore and reject rebutal which neutralized the issue for most folks

He could say, fine, if you believe that wearing a flag lapal demonstrates patriotism, then I will wear three, but the truth is being patriotic means NOT sending your soldiers to a war based on a LIE

I think it would go over, just my view

2. I just posted this on another thread:
I swear these attacks on Obama's patriotism are going to be his inspiration for his next great speech.

The false hopes/reality check comments led to an awesome speech riff and I have a feeling he is going to do the same thing with these attacks.

I can't wait. :)

18. Barack Obama is proving that the old style of attack simply doesn't work on him. He's too sharp
at re-framing issues.

What a farce.

7. Excuse my French, but don't get involved in a pissing contest with them
out manuever them. Wear 2 or 3 lapel flags, and with the remarks what patriotism REALLY is.

5. Even dumbo-americans don't give a shit about this anymore
If they want to whine about Obama not wearing a stupid flag pin, let 'em. It doesn't diminish Obama one iota and it makes them look sad and stupid.

11. Not so sure, because the way the surrogates are wording this, it may influence
some. Dan Abrams had this Georgia republican spewing it today, and bill maher had the same guy doing it on his last show

Abrams threw it right back at him, asking him if he thought wearing a flag lapel was so important, why didn't you wear it to my interview? It was beatiful

It is stupid issues like this, that get distorted, and they MUST get responded to, not like what happened to John Kerry in 2004.

I think he will also

9. American flag label pins are made in Chinese prisons
I would ask if they wiped the prisoner's blood off the pin before they put it on.

10. Do you remember during the last election when there was a "contest" to get the most flags behind you
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 10:27 PM by samdogmom
in a head shot? At a certain point, it got ridiculous--sometimes there were 20+ flags behind either Bush or Kerry. Honestly, I would have appreciated Kerry stopping the nonsense and calling it out instead of playing along. Bush has shredded much of the Constitution--he's a walking debacle--and all the flags in the world on his lapel or behind his head aren't going to make me like him one bit more or think that he's a patriot or doing good things for our country.

To me, the more flags you display means the less patriotic you are. Unfortunately, they've become a joke. It's like slapping the yellow ribbon magnet on your car. Great way to support the troops! How about mental and physical health care for our service people? Clean, well-maintained Veteran's Hospitals? Jobs and places for our returning servicemen and women to live when they return from duty? Real education benefits! These would mean much more than a stupid yellow magnet on your car.

If people are so shallow that they believe a symbol speaks louder than real actions then they need a reality check!

12. Agreed, but it would prove the that wearing a lapel pin doesn't demonstrate
patriotism.

Maybe I am making too big of a deal out of it, but I have NO DOUBT, the 529s will

lapel pin done for our country? Good grief he has a 19% approval rating!

So--Barack needs to ask the critics how Dubya's pin has helped our country!

21. The TRUTH never matters with repigs...
it will be the sensational, the prurient that they will attack him with. That's why that asshole who said he had an affair with him was (and still might be) a problem. They wont go after his policy...it'll be the man who won't wear a lapel pin and wants to eat your babies.

The most sensational of these charges (ones which we have probably never even heard of yet because the right has yet to make it up) will be what they use.

HRC is no different. Just a bit more battle tested.
