Last night I thought Hillary said she would release her tax returns pronto
Although she clearly did not seem to want to.

Today I heard on the radio that someone from her campaign said they would only release them only if she WERE the nominee.

Now, what's up with that? We only get to see them AFTER she is already the nominee?

How come? Did she not mean what she said very clearly in the debate?

2. She wouldnt dare release them even IF she were the nominee
The GOP would tear her apart over some of the stuff she looks to be hiding.

4. She never intended to release them any sooner. She already stated that she would not release
them until after the convention and she won't, no matter what lies she must tell to move the goalpost.

Anyone who believed her has not been paying attention.

8. It All Depends On What The Definition Of The Word...
Don't hold your breath. I suspect it'll show that Bill's getting big bucks from his "charitable foundation".

9. As an experienced candidate she's
known all along that she needed to produce the tax return. She should have had her accountant/attorneys review them and get them ready for disclosure long ago. This kind of hide the ball feeds the sleaze-ball frenzy--as it should.

10. And by that, she meant NEVER!! She will never release those.
It ain't happening, since it would take her all of 12 seconds to tell Bill "get our CPA to release those now."

She's lying.

11. Here's the transcript

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/26/us/politics/26text-debate.html?pagewanted=17&_r=1

MR. Russert . . .Why won't you release your tax return, so the voters of Ohio, Texas, Vermont, Rhode Island know exactly where you and your husband got your money, who might be in part bankrolling your campaign?

SEN. CLINTON: Well, the American people who support me are bankrolling my campaign. That's -- that's obvious. You can look and see the hundreds of thousands of contributions that I've gotten. And ever since I lent my campaign money, people have responded just so generously. I'm thrilled at so many people getting involved. And we're raising, on average, about a million dollars a day on the Internet. And if anybody's out there, wants to contribute, to be part of this campaign, just go to HillaryClinton.com, because that's who's funding my campaign.

And I will release my tax returns. I have consistently said that. And I will --

MR. RUSSERT: Why not now?

SEN. CLINTON: Well, I will do it as others have done it: upon becoming the nominee, or even earlier, Tim, because I have been as open as I can be. You have -- the public has 20 years of records for me, and I have very extensive filings with the Senate where --

MR. RUSSERT: So, before next Tuesday's primary?

SEN. CLINTON: Well, I can't get it together by then, but I will certainly work to get it together. I'm a little busy right now; I hardly have time to sleep. But I will certainly work toward releasing, and we will get that done and in the public domain.

A little bit of inadvertent truth telling? - "I have been as open as I can be"

I'm sorry. She obviously has the returns and she just as obviously doesn't WANT to disclose them. I always believe that people with things to hide, hide things. She is just making it worse.

13. When she starts an answer with "Well..."
you know what comes after will be some kind of a side-step.

15. All the Republicans and Independents are entitled to her
tax records in the GE... but Democrats can't have them now in the primary? I find that difficult to swallow.

I mean, I'm sorry, but she could make one call to her accountant and have it out. What's in there? :D
